Sims 4 will not load past Title Screen

So I have been trying to get Sims 4 to load for the past few days on my laptop. It used to load just fine as the gaming laptop is under 5 years old.

I have tried everything I can think of and everything I have found through Google. Including removing all mods and the mod folder, running my computer on a clean boot, repairing my game, clearing the cache of both Sims 4 and EA app, uninstalling the game as well as the EA app and reinstalling them, ensuring my graphics drivers are up to date and creating game profiles for them, I even uninstalled and reinstalled programs my computer came with that I have never used including GEforce Experience. My firewalls and antivirus program is essentially disabled at this point. I genuinely don't know what else to do that I haven't already done.

Any help would be most appreciated as though I do normally play on my Computer at home my laptop is the only thing available for me for the next few months.

  • twinblackdoves  If you haven't already, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs, if you can get that far.

If you get another crash, please provide a dxdiag.  Hit Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

  • twinblackdoves  That's great to hear, and thanks for the update.

When you're done, you can move your saves from the saves folder in the old Sims 4 folder to the saves folder in the new Sims 4 folder.  (It's best to move the files and not the entire folder.)  If you see a message about duplicate files, cancel the transfer and renumber the save files in the new folder so they don't conflict with the ones from the old folder.  The same applies to Tray files as well as anything in Screenshots or Recorded Videos.  The other files and folders can be discarded.

Playing in a clean version has also fixed the issue for me, how do I now get my saved game back without using the old broken folder?
