sims 4 won’t load; white screen pops up & game quickly closes

hi!  i’ve never really posted here before but i’m encountering an error where my game will not load.  once i press play,  the game starts itself like it normally would,  a white screen pops up for a few seconds and then the game quickly closes itself;  in one of the countless times i tried lanching the game,  i did get a startup error message,  and i will attach a screenshot of it below.  i’m very much clueless on what to do,  i think it’s safe to say i tried pretty much EVERYTHING i can possibly do on my end,  such as:

-  re-installing  (twice);
-  re-installing the ea app  (through a different microsoft account as suggested by a forum member  &  an ea assistant);
-  repairing game files through steam  (about two or three times);
-  repairing the ea app  (about three or four times lol);
-  clearing my mods/cc file  (completely resetting it,  since i uninstalled the  sims 4  application twice,  i even deleted the cc downloads from my computer:  a small hint at how desperate i was to find a solution);
-  running  ts4_x64.exe  as administrator;
-  checking for updates on steam,  ea,  intel  &  windows;
-  adding the entire ts4 bin to the firewall exceptions on both microsoft defender  and  windows firewall,  as well as the steam launcher,  ea launcher,  and  ea/steam proxy,  and  ts4_64/its launcher  as well;
-  clearing my cache on the ea app;

and probably more  😭  i’m entirely in the dark,  as well as not being good with computers/handling files at all.  i tried contacting ea support twice and nothing works for me.  i have browsed the latest posts and apparently i’m not the only one with this issue.  people with similar issues in the past  (who have gotten the startup error mentioned before)  seem to have fixed it after trying one of the things i listed,  which makes me wonder if the issue is with ea itself?  PLEASEEE help me figure this out if you can,  i am very much open to trying other possible solutions out.  (and to questions about the situation,  anything that might help)

attached is the error message i got.  (i only got it once,  though.  the other times the game didn’t launch seem like they weren’t even recognized as errors,  as it only redirected me to the ea app library after the game closed itself.)
also,  if that wasn’t made clear in the other stuff i wrote  (as this post might be all over the place,  sorry)  my game is installed through steam,  which doesn’t seem to be the root of the issue,  as i checked and have also checked the files/viewed their integrity multiple times,  which showed nothing was wrong.

  • i did this and my game still wont start  :(  does anyone have any more ideas?  im really in the dark rn and im not the best with handling computers in general.  i tried everything from updating my windows  &  intel,  repairing files through both ea and steam,  clearing my cache,  uninstalling  (twice),  clearing my mods/cc folder,  installing ea through a different microsoft account,  and now i added the ts4 bin to the firewall exceptions on both microsoft defender and windows firewall,  as well as the launchers for steam  &  ea...  i have no clue how to fix this.  i got the same startup error message as op

  • have you gotten a startup error message as well?  i am going through the exact same thing.  my sims starts regularly once i hit play,  a white screen pops up  &  the game quickly closes itself.  i tried everything from updating my windows  &  intel,  repairing files through both ea and steam,  clearing my cache,  uninstalling  (twice),  clearing my mods/cc folder,  installing ea through a different microsoft account,  and now i added the ts4 bin to the firewall exceptions on both microsoft defender and windows firewall,  as well as the launchers for steam  &  ea...  i have no clue how to fix this...  do try these options i listed above if you haven’t,  maybe you’re luckier than me lol!!  i’m terrible with computers and handling files so i have no idea what to do.  if your case is similar to mine,  could this be a problem on ea’s end?

    (copy and pasted from another forum post because a third/fourth person has also encountered the SAME exact issue today)

  • also,  this started about 2 days ago.  i haven’t been able to launch/play sims ever since due to this issue.  could be rooted in the game update?

  • pikagrrrl Good news/bad news. Good news is, you AREN'T alone, you HAVE done everything you can, and the problem is NOT you or your lack of tech skills.

    This problem started for me after the April 29 update. I'm convinced the error is actually in the EA app, but I'm not a techie, either. What I can say is that, just for giggles and with zero hope, I installed the update from a couple of days ago and suddenly could get into game like nothing happened. EA didn't expressly say anything in the patch notes about addressing this launch problem, which is widespread, but maybe there was something in the patch that indirectly fixed the issue. It is impossible to say.

    I honestly don't know if getting into the game yesterday was a fluke or not. I haven't tried yet today. But the game ran fine yesterday. My library was intact and all that. (Pro tip: if you do get in, play in offline mode. Honestly, the worst thing about being offline is no access to the gallery, but you experience far fewer game play issues or bugs. Just go online when you want to upload or download something from the gallery, then go back out and re-enter in offline mode. That way, you're spared the new bugs EA manages to introduce every time they 'fix' something. It's magic.)

    My best advice is to run the recent update, say a prayer to the tech gods, and see if you can load your game. If it doesn't work, keep making a stink on the forums. EA doesn't respond to error reports and I'm not convinced they pay much attention to the forums, either, but at least posting here reinforces that you're not alone.  Misery loves company and all that.

    Really sorry you're having this issue. It's beyond frustrating. I hope you can be reunited with your Sims soon.

    urghhhh it's so annoying!! Lol

    I've pretty much tried all the above things too. When I was googling solutions I found a whole lotta people saying the same thing, so who knows.

  • moviegrl17  There are people here on the forums who are happy to try to help with tech issues.  Just scroll up a bit.  That's kind of the whole point of the tech subforums.  And you can't really know that the OP has done everything possible without more information.  I can think of a lot of suggestions, but I'm not going to start tossing them out there without narrowing things down a bit.

    Also, if this were an EA-side problem, there would be many more posts, probably by two orders of magnitude, than there are now.  The current player base is very large.
