Steam and EA conflict

I wanted to play my Sims4 on my steam deck so I linked my accounts but when I tried to play via steam, it showed me that none of my DLC packs had been transferred over and I'd have to buy them all again.

So I tried to launch the game through the EA launcher again but it kept rerouting me back to steam.

Frustrated, I unlinked my steam account and after that no PLAY button appeared. The only buttons  were MANAGE and DOWNLOAD (Which was greyed out).

When I look in managek, I see the installation directory is... Steam. So how on earth do I fix this?

Please help.

  • I think I googled how to install ea on steam deck and launched the game in desktop mode on the steam deck and then I made the game window smaller in the settings in steam deck and minimised it and it showed ea app and from there you can download all your packs

  • In order to work, Steam account must be linked to an EA account , once it's done Steam will tell to EA App to unlock the owned products. When they are unlinked, Steam tell to EA App remove these products from the library of this EA account.

Steam doesn't use the same folder as EA App purchases so it can't find the files. On PC :

    • Steam > C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Sims 4
    • EA App > C:\Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 4
