Unplayable amount of lag that leads to crash

So I've been having random issues playing TS4 for nearing a year now, when previously I had no issues. During my attempts at repairing the issue, I found what I believe was my GPU dying off, so I picked up a new one and installed it. At the same time, I attempted to install a new Samsung SSD that I got for free (came with my husbands new monitor), and it caused a massive amount of issues that let to me removing the SSD and doing a complete wipe of my computer and reinstalling windows using a USB stick.

After the wipe, everything seemed to work again, until now. I don't go on my computer often, only a few times a month, so after downloading the latest updates, excited to try to go for this birthday cake item, I found my game was lagging so hard. Sometimes upon trying to open, I'd get a white screen, sometimes a green gem where it would freeze, sometimes music. After using NVIDIA to adjust game graphics to medium, (Previously it was high), I finally got to the title screen. Deleted all old saves and tried to make a new one, froze during create-a-sim. Cleared the cache, repaired the game, tried again. Got through create-a-sim but just barely. Game froze on the loading screen after selecting a home. Deleted all game files and redownloaded, ran DISM health scans and repairs, no errors resulted. ran SRC scan, no errors resulted. I don't know what else to try at this point, and I'm so frustrated I could cry.

I don't use mods, but I have a significant amount of packs that I've bought over the years. I've been able to run the game with all of my packs just fine until now, what the heck is going on? Attaching my dxdiag.

Correction: SFC scan, not SRC. I'm not super techy, but I saw the scan dialogue in another thread and tried that. Also, all my drivers are up to date.

  • SmttyPenguin  Please try playing in a clean user folder, as it's simple to test.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs.

Please don't add anything from the Gallery or your own library.

The Sims 4 errors in your dxdiag are AppHangB1 errors, which have a few causes, but the only common one that would happen with no mods or cc and no old saves or added content from the Gallery is an issue with the graphics driver.  So if the clean folder doesn't work, try a clean uninstall and reinstall of the driver.  Here's how:
