Hello everyone! I understand that many of you have questions regarding information and issues for College Football, FC, and other EA games. Well, here's a new weirdness I have never seen before... I tried to click Like on a post and instead got a pop up of a brief user profile as if I had hovered over a random user's name or avatar (a random user who, as far as I could tell, had nothing to do with the post I was trying to Like). (I keep saying I'm walking away from these forums, but there are a few people and threads that pull me back.)luciusstorm29 days agoSeasoned Veteran19Views3likes0CommentsI like the page view for boards!
I’ve been quite negative about various aspects of the forum design so far, but I just wanted to provide some positive feedback and say that I really like the page view for boards, where you click on the bolded number of posts at the top of the board! It’s so much less cluttered, and you can see many more discussions at once by scrolling down the page. And then more discussions by clicking on the next page. I think it would be a great improvement if this page view could be set to be the default for each board. And also if each thread could be displayed in the same way. Might that be possible one day (soon)?FreddyFox12342 months agoSeasoned Veteran17Views2likes0CommentsForums
Who's with me when I say that I wish EACG would go back to the old forums? This new format is a pain in the **bleep** as far as I'm concerned and should NOT be active. The old forums were easy to get to and easier to read and find what you wanted.Player_6s4tr9m72 months agoSeasoned Novice32Views1like0CommentsSorting by newest doesn't work in some discussions
Trying to sort Favorite Screenshot (2.0) discussion to newest causes the page to reload and show most liked. Even picking sort by oldest, causes it to show most liked. For me, it's one of the few discussions where that happens. Other discussion work fine and even checking it on mobile it has the same issue.BlueSeaWaves2 months agoSeasoned Ace17Views0likes0CommentsHard to Navigate
Can we please get subforums for The Sims 3 and other forums with similar issues? I can't find anything with the current format as everything has been included on one page and isn't even broken up into reasonable-length pages. From what I can tell, to find what you are looking for, you have to scroll endlessly through posts you are not interested in to locate the post you want to read. If the one you want isn't replied to often enough, it will be WAY down the list. If we have subforums we can at least have less to scroll through. And breaking posts into pages would make it so much easier to navigate larger posts. With the "What happened in your Sims 3 game today?" post, which was migrated from the old forums, there were 110,597 replies at the time of this post. That's a lot of scrolling to find the latest posts you haven't read. And there are no filtering options, especially Most Recent available at the top of posts, only the forum page itself. I'm not even sure if my computer could handle a web page with 110k posts and I'm pretty sure if you were on your phone, you wouldn't get to the bottom of it without exploding. LOL The Sims community would appreciate any improvements of this nature. Thanks for listening to our concerns. Please address them to the best of your ability. Thank you! ~texansky~texansky3 months agoRising Traveler20Views1like0CommentsProgress?
I feel at this point that we've made out views pretty clear. The new forums have a number of serious issues - no avatars, no page numbers, no subforums, bad sorting, unstable logins, getting rerouted, long load times, etc. At this point, new feedback is just repeating the old. What I think we all want now is to hear from folks running this show. So, I'll ask the impertinent question... because it's what I do. What progress is being made to address the issues?luciusstorm3 months agoSeasoned Veteran60Views11likes0CommentsRSS Feed and Consistent Order
It would be nice if an RSS feed were available for the new SWGOH Game Info Hub. In the old forum I used this to send new posts to a Discord webhook. In the new forum, however, this is currently not available and a consistent parsing of the page is not really practicable, since the order of the "all-posts" view is completely confused by the migration. Posts from 15 hours ago that were originally posted in March are displayed there. So please give us back the RSS feed.Dionysos2113 months agoRising Newcomer29Views1like0CommentsOpening links in new tab sometimes links to wrong discussion
If you scroll down to the latest threads section, most of the time opening the links in a new tab works. Sometimes it opens to a different thread. It seems pretty consistent when you do find one. Opening the same link in the current tab with a normal tap works correctly. Chrome on android.crzydroid3 months agoRetired Hero11Views0likes0CommentsNot a Fan Infinite Scrolling for These Threads
I'm not a fan of infinite scroll on this forum. I would love to see pagination instead. Example... I am looking at the Build 'n Share thread. It has 10,955 replies atm. If I go to the first page (which is updated monthly with the current challenge), I have 'bit at a time load more' when I get to the bottom of the page: Build-n-Share Challenge #182 **Jack Frost Comes Knocking** Due February 29, 2024 | EA Forums - 1866721 Even if I sort by 'Newest', it goes to an infinite scroll of semi-recent replies and I nearly go into a coma by the time I get to the newest... if I had taken time to arrive there, actually. It's very, very overwhelming. Very. On the old forum this is not a big deal... I can go the latest post via clicking on the right end of the pagination at the bottom of any page. By the way... The new forum looks nice and I love many aspects of it 🤗!28Views1like0CommentsWe Need Custom Avatars
I don't know why this wasn't implemented. This was a feature on the sims forum and many other forums. I thought this forum was supposed to be an improvement because the old sims forum was supposedly showing its age which is why you guys decided to shut down the sims forum. I'm sorry, but everything in this forum is a downgrade. It's more difficult to navigate through posts, it lacks features as compared to the sims forum and many other forums, and it's visually unappealing versus the sims forum and other forums. Was it really that difficult to keep the old sims forum running? Did you guys really have to ruin a good community? I'm sure a lot of people from the old sims forum won't be making their way to this forum, that's for sure.rjssim3 months agoNew Scout35Views4likes0Comments- AlexSimmer133 months agoSeasoned Newcomer13Views1like0Comments
This place feels like reddit but worse
I get that you need to start somewhere, but supposedly this place was worked on for months. And this is what we get? I go to reddit not for a community, but reading random comments on a single main image or link. This place has the same vibe. A forum is read chronologically without any nesting of comments and with pages. That's how everyone does it. I also saw someone calling twitter (elon has no say in what we call it) a forum. It's not. A forum, is a forum. with subsections, signiatures, profile walls, embedded quotes, chronological order. Not this, this feels like the wrong people got given the wrong task. It's feels as if you asked gen Z to recreate IRC for example, they sort of got it, but didn't actually know what it was like. The magic is gone. this feels like a off the shelf "forum" software package got bought and then bruteforced to work in ways it's not supposed to. Even AHQ feels more polished. If you want to make this place feel like an actual forum: go back to chronological order pages, no endless "show more" scrolling. proper quoting instead of this ugly nested behavior signiatures, no that isn't a "Security issue". it's a bit of text. Surely you can figure out proper regex and filtering to remove mallicious stuff. proper subsections instead of this large heap center formatting, lose the sidebar. nobody needs to know which tags are used elsewhere while reading a post whatever this broken formatting is...fix it. it can't even render a ampersand properly or show the whole description Set up a system so that you can have ghost users that can be used to migrate posts. because right now several guru's have left EA over the years, and therefore the simulation tech talk thread is unable to be migrated as they created it, and that's a shame. We're already losing so much, and we basically had to guess on wether or not the original posted had a account or even wanted to make one. notifications and messeges: a dropdown, don't make everythingload on a new page. this feels like a janky workarround inline editing, don't make me load into some editing page whenever i want to edit something. there's so many things at this early stage that feel like either the webdevs don't quite grasp what they're doing, they weren't given enough time, or somebody picked the wrong backend and now we have to make due, As a final note, Forcing the true forum to read only in the span of 5 days from forum announcement to now just because we refuse to use this place feels rude. I get that some staff members dislike the ancient and outdated old forum backend, but there's better ways to handle this.Rob199x3 months agoRising Adventurer47Views13likes0Comments
