my experience so far...
I would like to express my complete ignorance side for a hot min.... WHY CANT I REPLY TO POSTS WITH IMAGES? when replying asking for a image to help show what i was experiencing in a game, IT TOOK 4 HOURS for me to successfully respond, i used a imgur link and that wouldnt reply, i tried to shorten the URL that wouldnt allow it to reply... i ended up saying "will this reply work" when it sent i was able to edit and update with what i was originally trying to send, the old forums was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better with image handling it should not of taken 4 hours to allow me to send a reply with a imgur link my suggestion to improve this, whitelist imgur links? or dont auto convert links to images?tomtomvader2982 months agoRising Traveler31Views0likes0CommentsThe Golden Rules of helping
Hi everyone, helping can be hard and frustrating but yet, if you wouldn't love it, you wouldn't it be here. I have a few guidelines I try to follow and I like to share those with you. I call them Golden Rules cause that sounds better than Golden Guidelines. There's always situations where they might not apply and I do tend to bend them for forums that get less helper traffic. Always be courteous to everyone. Even if posts are rude and offensive, try to answer in a calm and professional matter. Try to put yourself in their shoes and then answer. Giving a calm answer, can get a thread to a level where you can help. Treat everyone the same. If a thread makes you wanna post a rude answer, take a step back and either return to it later or find another helper to answer it. An answer giving some suggestion on how to proceed even if you don't know the answer yourself is better than no answer but no answer is better than a wrong answer (and much better than a rude answer). So if you're unsure about something, clearly state so in your answer or try to get someone else to answer the thread for you. Be aware that not everyone is fluent in English. Some use a translator and other try to best they can. If you get the impression that someone has troubles with the language, help them by trying to keep your answer simple and in short sentences. Don't use text speech or a lot of abbreviations and try to keep the technical terms to a minimum. Do keep up with the threads you help with. This is not always easy, especially if you answer a lot of questions every day but try to find a system that works for you (subscribing, bookmarking, making sure every post in a certain forum is answered, check your recent threads to see if someone has posted after you) Don't answer in forums of games you don't play and don't know anything about unless it's a thread that's clearly about an account issue. The risk that you are giving a wrong answer is too great. Not all games work the same way. Don't answer in languages you don't understand. Translating programs are very advanced these days and might help you get an idea what it's about but to really help, you must understand the nature of the problem fully and the person you help must be able to understand you. Don't post in foreign language sections if you don't speak the language. Don't make the thread about how you don't have the issue. Sometimes it's ok to compare to your own game, especially if the OP specifically asks for it but most of the time, people don't want to hear that you don't have any troubles. It's ok to copy other people's answer BUT you should - out of courtesy towards the OP - do one of three things (or all of them). This is especially true if you c/p a FAQ post from someone else. Ask for permission first If you quote something, always put the name of the OP and (if possible) a link to where you have it from Rephrase the solution in your own words (or translate). It shows that you actually understand what you're posting. It's ok to use c/p and macros. We all do it, you could not survive on here without BUT make sure you fully read the OP and remove stuff that has already been tried or answered. Do try to make it individual although it's a c/p answer Many users never come back. They may have posted in other forums too or solved their issue and forgot the posted here. Don't let that frustrate you. Use a standard answer or ask for some extra info on your first post. Something that does not cost you a lot of times. You can elaborate if they come back. You can also address them with a @username in your post. This will send them an email notification of your answer (if the user didn't turn that off in their options). If you have troubles understanding someone, try to rephrase what they said to get confirmation from them. Do tell them that this is to make sure you understand their problem right. If someone posts in a wrong forum, do try to help them anyways in the best way you can or report the thread to a CM to be moved. You can also point them to the right forum but don't be rude about it. The forums can be difficult to navigate especially for younger (and older) folks. If a thread actually turns into a back and forth do try to keep up with what the user already tried, especially if you were not the OH (= Original Helper). Don't suggest again what others already have (this exclude posts that were made at the same time of course) If you're stuck on a thread, don't be afraid to ask a fellow helper to look over your case. Helping is not a competition. Always be open to other solutions. If you have some spare time, try reading other helpers post and learn from them. Don't answer spam posts. Report them.crinrict2 months agoHero+50Views5likes0CommentsHeat based filtering.
Hi. I'm missing the threaded hierarchy of answers HQ, filtering by "newest" feels floaty and I don't care for it. It also makes finding threads more difficult as the technical posting is now mixed with the social posting. Will it be possible to view threads in the old way in future? Or is this the permanent default?DAW0853 months agoRising Scout9Views0likes0CommentsForums account created
I got email today: Hi cmkrc3vtvm86, Due to your contributions in EA Forums, you have earned a new rank! Thank you for your participation in the community. Your EA Forums Team My account profile says I joined 3 hours ago at the time of this post. I haven't created this account myself because my name cmkrc3vtvm86 is so random. I play swogh and have created one ea forums acoount before using the same email this account uses but It cannot be this because I created that multiple years ago. I have also used the swogh online shop which requires email to log in. Any idea how did this happen?cmkrc3vtvm865 months agoNewcomer30Views0likes0CommentsCan't authenticate
It knows who I am but it can't authenticate so I can't see the sims 4 forum. I can read my past interactions but.... It just says come back later but when I come back later it hasn't changed. Will this be fixed any time soon? Sinecerly, Debralou2002debralou20026 months agoNew Veteran29Views1like0CommentsI like the page view for boards!
I’ve been quite negative about various aspects of the forum design so far, but I just wanted to provide some positive feedback and say that I really like the page view for boards, where you click on the bolded number of posts at the top of the board! It’s so much less cluttered, and you can see many more discussions at once by scrolling down the page. And then more discussions by clicking on the next page. I think it would be a great improvement if this page view could be set to be the default for each board. And also if each thread could be displayed in the same way. Might that be possible one day (soon)?FreddyFox12348 months agoSeasoned Ace19Views2likes0CommentsForums
Who's with me when I say that I wish EACG would go back to the old forums? This new format is a pain in the **bleep** as far as I'm concerned and should NOT be active. The old forums were easy to get to and easier to read and find what you wanted.Player_6s4tr9m78 months agoSeasoned Novice34Views1like0CommentsSorting by newest doesn't work in some discussions
Trying to sort Favorite Screenshot (2.0) discussion to newest causes the page to reload and show most liked. Even picking sort by oldest, causes it to show most liked. For me, it's one of the few discussions where that happens. Other discussion work fine and even checking it on mobile it has the same issue.BlueSeaWaves8 months agoLegend17Views0likes0Commentsin game link swgoh
The in game link in swgoh still takes you to the old forum. Since that is read only it should be changed...9t97wn8mgwyh9 months agoSeasoned Newcomer19Views1like0CommentsProgress?
I feel at this point that we've made out views pretty clear. The new forums have a number of serious issues - no avatars, no page numbers, no subforums, bad sorting, unstable logins, getting rerouted, long load times, etc. At this point, new feedback is just repeating the old. What I think we all want now is to hear from folks running this show. So, I'll ask the impertinent question... because it's what I do. What progress is being made to address the issues?luciusstorm9 months agoSeasoned Ace66Views11likes0CommentsRSS Feed and Consistent Order
It would be nice if an RSS feed were available for the new SWGOH Game Info Hub. In the old forum I used this to send new posts to a Discord webhook. In the new forum, however, this is currently not available and a consistent parsing of the page is not really practicable, since the order of the "all-posts" view is completely confused by the migration. Posts from 15 hours ago that were originally posted in March are displayed there. So please give us back the RSS feed.39Views2likes0CommentsNot a Fan Infinite Scrolling for These Threads
I'm not a fan of infinite scroll on this forum. I would love to see pagination instead. Example... I am looking at the Build 'n Share thread. It has 10,955 replies atm. If I go to the first page (which is updated monthly with the current challenge), I have 'bit at a time load more' when I get to the bottom of the page: Build-n-Share Challenge #182 **Jack Frost Comes Knocking** Due February 29, 2024 | EA Forums - 1866721 Even if I sort by 'Newest', it goes to an infinite scroll of semi-recent replies and I nearly go into a coma by the time I get to the newest... if I had taken time to arrive there, actually. It's very, very overwhelming. Very. On the old forum this is not a big deal... I can go the latest post via clicking on the right end of the pagination at the bottom of any page. By the way... The new forum looks nice and I love many aspects of it 🤗!32Views1like0Comments
