Simcity 5 keeps crashing.
I play the game and after a little bit it crashes, it says "sim city as stopped working" i know it has nothing to do with my graphix card or anything because it used to do it with simcity 4 not that long ago. I dont know how to fix it, It will not stop crashing. I dont know if its origin but im starting to dislike origin a lot because of these issues.Anonymous12 years ago30KViews37likes424CommentsRegion Not Sharing Resources / Status Checks between cities
The region I have created has 1 city I am actively working, and 2 small cities I have created to take other roles. The problem is that I have tried to sell power/water/sewage to the small cities, and they aren't taking it. Additionally, when I am in the small cities, I cannot build the buildings granted by the upgrades in the city I have been working (Department of Finance, Oil HQ, etc etc etc.) NONE of the region checks are going through. Every city is acting like an island with no communication between them. I thought this was supposed to be the point of always online.Anonymous12 years ago20KViews11likes348CommentsSimCity 4
I recently bought simcity4 for PC and every time I put the serial number in on the booklet it keeps saying that the code is invalid I bought the game new and have rang the customer support team and they say the code is fine has anyone got an idea what could be going wrongSolvedAnonymous13 years ago14KViews1like277CommentsCity is not processing. Rollback or abandon. Rollback fails.
Anyone else having this issue? I've spent a few hours now, twice, building two different cities, in two different regions. After a couple of hours, I get an error message - Your city is not processing correctly. This quits to a region view, where you have to choose from Rollback or Abandon. Clearly, I have tried to choose Rollback, but to no avail. All over red rover - can't get back into that city. If I quit, and restart, it even says "Resume City Name" I think great, until I try it - Cannot load city at this time. What kind of rubbish is this? I have paid $100 for this game, and it appears to be so buggy that it should be considered an alpha release, let alone beta. *HURRUMPH!*Anonymous12 years ago6.7KViews10likes235CommentsSimcity "signal loss" "Black screen of death" thread
There are a ton of threads about this issue. EA or Maxis hasn't acknowledged this problem yet. When you call EA they blame your computer but how can it be all our computers? How can this be the only game that messes up our computer like this? There are a few people on here telling people it is their faulty hardware OR it is an overheating issue. All our cards overheating? All of us have faulty hardware that just so happened to mess up while playing Simcity? I doubt it. I don't know what it is but it couldn't be that I don't think. Here is my issue. I will try and load a city. Before it is loaded all the way my screen goes black and my monitor says "no signal" The lights and fans on my computer are still on but nothing happens. I have to manually turn off my computer. If I try to turn it back on, it doesn't turn on. I have to wait a minute before I can turn it back on. My city sometimes load and when it does I am able to play as much as I want in the city (which shows me my graphic card is stable enough to run it) but when I go to regional view it happens. These ARE signs of hardware problems but if so, how can this be the only game? Is that even possible? I ran The Witcher 2 on uber settings and ran around trying to crash my system. It didn't happen. I played Battlefield 3 on ultra running and shooting trying to crash my system. it didn't happen. I ran Furmark (GPU stress test overclockers use to test) my card was fine running that as well. I have both the CCC and coretemp up while playing. My CPU is a i7 920 OC to 3.8 and it is in the 60-70 temp range. My GPU is a Radeon HD 6950 and is in the 70-75 temp range. Those are not overheating temps what so ever. If it was a hardware problem we are all experiencing wouldn't the same problems show in other, more graphical games? If I am shown proof that it is overclocking doing it I will turn all mine off but seeing that other games and stress tests (Furmark and prime95) work just fine, I am having a troubled time seeing any ties between the two. I have contacted someone who works at Maxis (MaxisMC over on reddit) and they said they will pass the error a long to the graphic guys so we shall see what happens. I would suggest others do the same for they can see that this is a wide spread problem. I hope it gets fixed soon. It is getting frustrating. Here is my video of what is happening. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMClZSCCnEw Here are a few more videos from people on these forums seeing the same exact problem. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JN-Y1HoablU&feature=youtu.be http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcgx985f-mQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLBf_o0UFiw If you have the ability to record and this is happening to you, record it and post it in this thread to show EA/Maxis. I didn't paste in the threads I am a part of on other forums with people having the same issue! How can this be our computers if it is happening to a lot of us? Hi, I've seen a lot of posts about SimCity constantly crashing with a blue screen of death or windows error but mine just simply freezes? I'll be playing for about 30 mins to an hour or sometimes if I'm lucky a little longer then the game will just freeze completely. I cant move the cursor and the music and sound efects make a horrible screeching noise. I cant CTRL ALT DEL to exit the game and everytime I'm forced to manually restart my computer. My graphics card never exceeds 60 deg C and my PC specs are WELL within the range to play this game on ultra settings. Anyone else get the same problem or know how to fix it??? Please help, its getting extremely frustrating having this on top of server issues. I also experienced the exact same problem whilst playing the beta. Thanks!Anonymous12 years ago12KViews10likes134CommentsSimcity Crash OSX 10.13
Hi, Since I've upgraded my MBP to OSX 10.13 (High Sierra), Sim City keeps crashing out - it's random as to how long it takes to crash out; anywhere between a couple of seconds to a minute and it's always with the error: Application Specific Information: abort() called Application Specific Signatures: Graphics kernel error: 0xfffffffb Anyone else having this issue since updating their Mac? I've attached the full crash log text.SolvedAnonymous8 years ago18KViews14likes124CommentsYour city is not processing properly
After playing my city for a while I got the error below: "Your city is not processing properly. We would like to try to repair it. This process will take you back to the main menu." I hit Quit, much to my shagrin as this was the only option, and it removed me from the game. I then had the option to rollback. I did that, and found that it has only set me back a bit, so I didn't worry. I then prceeded to have this happen 6 more times, any where from 5 to 15 minute after rolling back and reopening the map, and it always set me back to the exact same place. It seems to always happen shortly after I hit 5k people and upgrade my city hall. I will be attempting to star a new city on a new region to test. I'd much prefer to keep this first city going if possible. Any help is appreciated. Edit - New region worked for some time but the error just started with this new region as well.Anonymous12 years ago12KViews5likes107Comments[Mac] SimCity and MacOS Catalina & newer
Beginning with MacOS Catalina 10.15, Apple will no longer support 32-bit apps. SimCity is a 32-bit legacy game, and will not currently run on MacOS Catalina. If you purchased SimCity from the App Store, Aspyr currently plans to update SimCity to a 64-bit app. As far as we know, there are no plans by EA to change the SimCity app. If you purchased from EA and want to continue playing SimCity, you will want to do some planning before completing an update to Catalina. EDIT: Update for January 7, 2020: Aspyr has updated their version of SimCity: Complete Edition to 64-bit. It is now compatible with Catalina. There are a few choices for running SimCity on Catalina: Create a bootable external drive running macOS 10.14 Mojave or earlier Install a virtual machine running macOS 10.14 Mojave or earlier Boot camp your Mac and run SimCity in Windows (your EA purchased games allow you to run either Mac or PC versions) Be aware, if you're installing an earlier MacOS: Mojave 10.14.4 had reports of problems using HD and UHD resolutions. See This Thread for more info & how to force resolution in Advanced Game Options High Sierra 10.13 had multiple reports of problems crashing SimCity. See This Thread for more info If you have already upgraded to Catalina, you could also consider restoring to an earlier MacOS version or purchase the 64-bit SimCity application from the App Store. If you choose to purchase from the app store, be aware that you will no longer have access to any regions or cities on the EA servers. The Aspyr version is single player / offline use only. For more information, @Bluebellflora has written detailed instructions on how to accomplish each of the above solutions. Running 32-bit apps after macOS Mojave EDIT: As of Dec 21, 2019 Aspyr has listed their SimCity:Complete Edition version 1.0.3 as being 64-bit. Be aware that EA does not support the Mac App Store version. The App Store version is single player only. There is no access to multiplayer or any regions on the EA servers.SolvedBlackjackWidow6 years agoHero (Retired)87KViews27likes101Comments"You cannot claim this city because you do not own some of the content used to create it"
"You cannot claim this city because you do not own some of the content used to create it" Has an error / persistent bug in the game , both in the Limited Edition version of SimCity , as this same issue with expanding City of Tomorrow . When we claim an abandoned city the message: " You can not claim this city 's not because you own some of the content used to create it " This is frustrating because I tried with the normal edition simcity and nothing happened , always gave the message : " You can not claim this city 's not because you own some of the content used to create it ." Then I bought the Expansion City of Tomorrow posted as missing for this claim abandoned city , but still try and claim the message: " You can not claim this city 's not because you own some of the content used to create it " Ie still can not claim an abandoned city in my region , and how this happens to me must be happening to thousands of gamers Simcity too. Please Easily Repair this error , mend that we may claim the abandoned cities in our region . Thank you for helping all of us .Solved21KViews18likes97CommentsI'm going to make this really simple, EA
You have had my money for days. I have not yet been able to even begin a city despite many hours of trying. So this is really simple. You're going to give me a refund. If you don't give me a refund, you're going to find out what a very determined person with plenty of time on his hands and plenty of means to take action will do when he feels like a corporation has defrauded him and refuses to make it right. I'll start with my state's Attorney General. I'll then move on to the FTC and lodge an interstate commcrce fraud complaint. I'll of course hit the BBB. Finally I am quite sure given my means and contacts that I can find a lawyer who will bring a complaint that you cannot ignore. You refused to refund me when you defrauded me by claiming you were selling me one thing (a working product) and delivered a completely non-functional product. You further threatened me that you would ban my entire account which has quite a few games on it, unrelated to this game or this transaction, and threatened to permanently revoke my ability to play those other games which have long since been paid for. I'm fairly certain the extent of your legal right if I ask my bank to do a charge back is to remove my access to what I would then have no longer paid for. Threatening punitive action in order to coerce a consumer to accept a purchase which was made in good faith but which was not delivered upon is, I am quite sure, a violation of several consumer rights laws. Since April 2019, some Mac users have reported problems playing SimCity. Symptoms include: Mouse cursor accuracy off - have to place the cursor above or below the intended target before being able to select Native Display resolution not available in settings Inability to play in full screen mode This appears to have happened due to the Mojave 14.4 update. Prior OS versions did not experience this problem, so Apple must have changed something in this update that has caused these issues to appear. EA is currently working with Apple on this issue. In the meantime, this thread has been created to gather information on which systems are affected. I will keep this post updated with any workarounds or fixes. Some users have reported these workarounds help with cursor accuracy and display resolution: Start the game in windowed mode: In Origin, right-click the SimCity icon and choose "Game Properties" > click the "Advanced Launch Options" tab > type "-w" (without the quotation marks) in the "Command Line Arguments" box. Launch SimCity and go to the Settings menu (upper right three dots). Choose the correct resolution for your screen in the graphics settings. Launch in windowed mode and force a lower resolution via command line: In Origin, right-click the SimCity icon and choose "Game Properties" > click the "Advanced Launch Options" tab > type "-w -r:1600x900" (without the quotation marks) in the "Command Line Arguments" box. Note: Use a resolution that your display supports. You can test which resolutions work best for you. Some examples: -r:1600x900 -r:1024x768 -r:1920x1080 Adjust Display settings to get a better experience in windowed mode: System preferences > Display > select Scaled, choose one of the options that makes the window bigger (thanks @12345iseeu for the suggestion) Launch full screen forcing the display resolution via command line: In Origin, right-click the SimCity icon and choose "Game Properties" > click the "Advanced Launch Options" tab > type "-r:1920x1080" (without the quotation marks) in the "Command Line Arguments" box. Match the resolution to the current display settings on your monitor, using the format "-r:HHHHxRRRR" For instance, -r:2560x1440 -r:1920x1080 -r:1600x900 If you are experiencing these problems on a Mac, please post the information requested below, and click the Me Too button on this post. @Bluebellflora wrote: Could you clarify a couple of things for me to see whether I can help as a fellow Mac user: Please can you provide more information about your Mac. I have 2 ore mines and a coal mine in my city, and my trade depot was working fine exporting these for cash this morning. After a while it seems now my trade depots refuse to export anything and they sit at full capacity while still being set to export. All my mines have now shut down because they are all full and they cant deliver to the trade depots because those are full. The roads connecting my city to the region are operating just fine and not clogged, so the trucks SHOULD have a path out of the city to export. No trucks are departing however. This completely breaks a mining city as I can't even mine fast enough to "unlock" the Mining HQ or Trading HQ since my trade depot is gridlocked. Building new trade depots didn't help as those simply filled up as well.16KViews6likes81Comments"You cannot claim this city because you do not own some of the content used to create it."
I can't seem to join any regions with open cities because of this message. I bought the standard version of the game but I just can't find any regions that were made by someone with the same version. There seems to be no way to filter for regions created using a certain game version (or even regions with open spots), which makes finding a region to play completely impossible.Anonymous12 years ago7.5KViews14likes73CommentsEducation bug? (enrollment drops to ~55%)
I am having the same problem in all of my cities. At the start, my city is doing great, with up to 200,000 people, and 100% school enrollment. Then kids just stop going to school. My enrollment numbers go down to something like 3,200 / 6,100 (always around 50-60%, it seems.) Then industry starts complaining about unskilled workers, and my population goes down. The thing is, looking at the map, there are no purple bars; just lots of big green bars. At all times of day. The map shows all students enrolled, but the main tally shows a huge gap of unenrolled kids. How can that be? None of my schools are at capacity. I have lots of school busses and school bus stops. Traffic doesn't seem to be an issue. Everything was working great with 100% enrollment at the population peak. But the kids just stop going to school? What is happening?SolvedAnonymous12 years ago10KViews4likes73Comments
