Starting October 11, 2018, free copies of The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection will no longer be available. Why the change? A few years ago, we ran a limited-time promotion offering free codes for The Sims 2 Ultimate Edition. Since that promotion ended, we’ve gotten a lot of contacts asking for codes for the collection. We’ve done our best to support these contacts in the past, but we have reached a point where we no longer can. What if I have the game but I’m having issues with it? Let us know! We are more than happy to help with any account or technical issues relating to your copy of The Sims 2. What other ways can I play The Sims? You can get The Sims 3 or 4 through Origin, or grab The Sims 4 on Xbox One or PlayStation 4. Or access both games through the Vault for Origin Access. To play on the go, check out The Sims Mobile. This tutorial is intended to help players who have moved their saved games from The Sims 2 Store Edition into The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection. As such, it only applies to The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection or disk installations of The Sims 2 that do not include The Sims 2 Store Edition. To offer a brief explanation, saved games that were created (or even just loaded) with The Sims 2 Store Edition are not compatible with an earlier version of The Sims 2, which includes The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection. Since Ultimate Collection does not include Store Edition, those saved games are not backwards compatible. This tutorial will explain the process of making The Sims 2 Store Edition saved games compatible with The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection or The Sims 2 Mansion & Garden Stuff, by editing neighborhoods using SimPE. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT SimPE IS A FAN-MADE, 3RD PARTY PROGRAM NOT DEVELOPED OR ENDORSED BY EA. PLEASE USE YOUR BEST DISCRETION IF YOU DECIDE TO UTILIZE THIS TOOL. SimPE 0.75.69 can be downloaded here: http://www.simfileshare.net/download/3502039/ Before editing any files, it is highly recommended that you make a backup, so you can restore it in case something goes wrong. By default, The Sims 2 user data is located in Documents\EA Games. Copy the entire Sims 2 folder to a safe place outside of that folder. In case something goes wrong, you can simply delete the one that gets messed up (do not paste the backup over it), restore the backup and start over. 1. Launch SimPE. In the top left corner, go to Tools – Neighborhood – Neighborhood Browser. 2. Click on the first neighborhood, then select Open. In the bottom left corner, you might see SimPE loading various Sims 2 resources. If so, wait until it loads everything to make sure the program does not freeze. 3. You should see two windows (Resource Tree and Resource List) as well as a list of buttons on the bottom, one of which should be Hex. (If those do not show up, click on Extra in the top left corner, then go to Preferences – SimPE Settings and select Reset Layout.) 4. In Resource Tree, click on ID Number. In Resource List, click on ID Number again. At the bottom, click on Hex to access SimPE’s Hex Editor. You should see a table with a bunch of numbers. 5. Look for 1f. There should only be one instance of it. Click on it, then under Values/Navigation, in the Byte field, change 0x1f to 0x11. 6. On the right, click Commit, then on the top left, click on File and select Save. 7. Go back to the Neighborhood Browser (Tools - Neighborhood – Neighborhood Browser) and click on the same neighborhood you have just edited. In the Neighborhood Browser, there is an Options section with a drop-down menu, containing every sub-neighborhood attached to the main neighborhood. 8. You will need to repeat the process for all sub-neighborhoods. These may include, but are not limited to: Universities, Downtowns, Shopping Districts, Pets, Weather, Exotic Destinations, Hobbies and Magic. Some of these (such as Pets and Weather) are hidden during gameplay, however they are added to every neighborhood by default. However many of them are, each one has to be fixed. Once you are done with one neighborhood, move on to the next one. Repeat until all of them show up, and do not forget that each of them very likely has sub-neighborhoods attached.mate543 years agoHero+3.6KViews28likes0CommentsThe Sims 1 On Origin?
I've been around the Sims forum communities and apparently EA has no current plans on releasing The Sims 1 on Origin, because it's "too old". I think that the game should definitely be released on Origin like The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection was. I'd buy it and so would many other die-hard simmers! Anyways, I did some digging on Origin and searched some EA games and stumbled across Populous (released in 1989) and Theme Hospital (released in 1997). Both were published by EA (click the links to the game titles to see screenshot evidence from origin itself), so the excuse of The Sims 1 being "too old" isn't a valid enough, since it was released in 2000. EA, please consider releasing the first sims on Origin. I will dip into my pockets to purchase purchase it for sure. I own The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection, all of The Sims 3 EPs/SPs (currently working on owning the store and all worlds), and most of The Sims 4 packs (currently working on saving up to buy the missing packs I don't own) on Origin and am intending on purchasing The Sims Complete Collection in the near future. I know I'm probably betting on an impossibility here, but Electronic Arts, I know y'all aren't against making more money and plus, if the game is added on Origin for purchase or even better--an anniversary promotional event like y'all did for TS2--it'll be a convenience for simmers who have bad luck with keeping up with their games or bad luck with horrible computers. There's a huge benefit of having games connected to Origin: if I were to ever lose a pack or two or if my laptop crashed, I could just easily log back into my Origin to re-download my game library. This is coming from someone who plays The Sims 2, The Sims 3, and The Sims 4 and loves all of them for different reasons, since each is special in their own way. It'd mean so much to many simmers if The Sims 1 was released on Origin. Please consider.Solved57KViews26likes16CommentsThe Sims Complete Collection on Origin
Recently I've purchased The Sims 1 Complete Collection and I got really upset when I realized tha EA is being so neglect with the most successfull game that became this franchise so big. I tried to register the game in my Origin Account, and as I imagined, the serial was not valid. So I started a chat in US Origin (I'm brazilian) and asked for help to register the game in my account. In the begining I thought I would be successfull in this process, until the moment when the clerk said that the registration wouldn't be possible because the game is very old. I answered saying that Origin owns older games than The Sims 1 (SimCity 2000, Theme Hospital...), and the clerk was unable to explain the availablity of these games. So then, I started observing my game and I realized that it was produced in 2008. I notified the clerk about this, about Sims 2 also. I got lots of criteria about the fact that "The Sims Complete Collection is too old", until the clerk guided me to create a topic in Origin forum about this question to call attention of the developers. Instantly I looked for it to find answers about my issue. After I searched topics in forum, I thought about what the clerk has told me "all attention of the developers" e asked him about it. He said that a post in the forum could convince (or not) the developers to provide The Sims 1 in Origin. He also offered me The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection (I already own this one), saying that it was better than TS1. I thought a little disrispect, once my first question was about how to register The Sims Complete Collection in my account. After 3 hours chatting trying to understand why the game will not be available on Origin to date, I concluded what was mentioned at the beginning of the publication. Since now... I'm a big fan of The Sims series and I am REALLY disapointed about the way EA treats this classic game that gave birth to everything we have today. 😞24KViews18likes12Comments- 26KViews18likes20Comments

Dear All Sims 1 fans, Many of you out there are aware of Sims 1 not supported on Windows 10. This is not only sad, but EA no longer supports this game either. That is their choice, but in my opinion, this game is historical and should be preserved for future generations. Many older games are getting lost due to the popularity of new games. So people ask, why should we preserve the past games, since their graphics are horrible and gameplay boring? This is what most newer gamers ask, but those of us that lived when the games came out as new, either feel nostalgia or a love for the older games. I also believe this game shows historical information for future generations to show how gaming evolved. In fact, there are many facts about the sims 1 that i know personally. I know this game was very hard for Will Wright to make, when he first worked on it. I have a sheet with a interview with Will Wright from a letter from long ago, which i will donate in the future to a museum of video gaming, if i ever find one that shows physical items. Originally, The sims 1 was gonna be called "DOLLHOUSE", and in the interview, this is shown. Will Wright then decided to name it "the people simulator". Eventually, the sims name came to fruition. The name means Simulated People, which was another possible name of the game could of been. Over 1 million copies of the game were sold in many countries around the world. Also, the game was not like any other's that came out back then. It was a new idea, and very innovative. Now, I believe older games should be historically preserved for those in the future, so those of you that can no longer play Sims 1 due to either being forced to download Windows 10 (like i was), or have to get windows 10 on a new computer, your in luck. Someone on the official forums of the sims 4 made a mod that fixes the .EXE and allows the game to be played on windows 10. I wish to post this here, for like me, people out there wish to play the game for the love of it, and preserving the past. I also believe in what some of the preserving groups are doing to past video games and to preserving them. As many of these games were actually new when i 1st seen them. If we don't preserve the past, mistakes of the future will repeat again and again, even with cultural history and heritage. Here is the original post where i found the information about how to get sims 1 to work on windows 10: http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/848531/help-getting-the-sims-complete-collection-to-run-on-windows-10 This method also works for the sims retail disk versions also. I believe this will help those with issues playing the sims 1 on windows 10 pc's. Note that i do not know if this will work with non-english versions. I tried the file personally and it seemed to work fine, as far as i can see. I am only posting this here to help those who seek help playing the sims 1 on a windows 10 pc. I would like to thank the person who made the file, but there name appears deleted off the sims 4 forums. Instructions: 1. Download the .EXE here: [Removed] NOTE: Since this was removed, please refer to above link from the sims forums. 2. Go into your old Sims 1 file, in windows 10, under C://Program Files (x86) > Maxis > Sims. Rename the sims.exe file as Sims.old in case the new file does not work. 3. Move the new sims.exe file to same folder as above. 4. Launch the game. You may need to run it in compatibility mode. 5. Hopefully it works. I hope this helps others who have issues with sims 1 and Windows 10. Good luck! I hope this also preserves the game for future generations. DISCLAIMER: I did not make this file, nor am i affiliated with the individual(s) who made it. I believe in the preservation of older games for cultural information and art styles shown in past games. This topic should be stickyed if a moderator finds that it can, so it can help others with getting the sims 1 to work, for the love of the game, and keeping the preservation of the past. Many games of the past have been lost to time, and this is sad. Although considered a new medium, video gaming history is being lost as newer technology keeps changing. Since it is hard to preserve the past, whether it be written documentation, historical records, or in the case of video games, video game medium, it should be saved. This is why i support organizations like the VGHI, and others like them. They are trying to preserve the games for future generations. If your interested in this, please look at the link below in the sources links . Sadly, the more the Operating systems and console styles change, the more harder it is to "archive" older software and games for preservation. I support the preservation of our cultural older games and the impact they have had on our society. This is why games like the sims 1 should be preserved. It shows cultural aspects of the late 20th century and early 21st century. Historians in the future will have a hard time deciphering how a culture interacted, and this game will help them decipher it.
