Annoying FPS drop since the new driver

Hello friends, I wanted to ask you a question. Since the last NVIDIA driver update I am having performance issues with APEX. After a game (or having minimized the game) my game starts to have an annoying FPS drop, going from an average of 60-70 (graphics at maximum) to about 40. Now it is very common that when I am in the loby, the models and the stage look extremely pixelated and the FPS drops to about 12 or 13.

Why is this happening? It only happens to me with Apex.

My PC:

Ryzen 9 3900X

Asus TUF Gaming

1650 S (4 GB)

Ram 32 GB GSkill (DDR4) 3600 Hz

SSD M.2 970 Evo Plus

I already tried reinstalling my game (I cleared all record of it with RevoUnistaller) and reinstalling the drivers (using DDU). I just need to download the previous version of the driver, which I will try when I get home.

A photo of what my game would occasionally look like after a game:

    Hey @ComisarioLetlev,

Were you able to try installing the previous driver? Are you not seeing the same FPS drops on the older drivers, or does it still happen?

    /Kent

  • I installed an older version and now it is much more stable. Performance issues remain, but I assume they are known issues.

  • For AMD it happens on all drivers. I made a post about it, but still haven’t recieved any answers

    Hey @nospaferr

Would you mind sharing a DxDiag when you've got a chance? For more details on how to pull one up check out the EA Help site. One you have the text file please attach it here.

    Thanks!

  • In my case, the game starts to run unstable every two or three games. What I do is restart my PC every time it happens. Kind of annoying, but I could call it the best "work around" I've had.

    Thanks for the additional info!

In your case, is this only happening while you're actually in a match or do you see the FPS drops even when you're in the lobby and game menus?
