Apex Legends Progress Lost After Linking Steam to Existing EA Account

Hi everyone,

I’m having a serious issue with my Apex Legends progress and I’m hoping someone from EA Help or the community can help me figure out what happened.

I originally played Apex Legends on PlayStation 4, where I had an account around level 300. I had a lot of progress, unlocked items, cosmetics, and other content on that account.

My PlayStation Apex account was already connected to an EA account.

Here’s exactly what happened:

I logged into my existing EA account, which was already linked to my PlayStation account.

I then connected my Steam account to that same EA account.

After connecting Steam, I launched Apex Legends through Steam expecting my existing PlayStation progress to appear.

Instead, Steam showed me a completely fresh Apex account at around level 8. None of my previous progress, unlocks, cosmetics, or other items were there.

I initially thought this might only be an issue with Steam, so I went back to my PlayStation 4 and launched Apex Legends to check whether my original progress was still there.

Unfortunately, my progress is now missing on PlayStation as well. It shows the same fresh account/progress that I’m seeing on Steam.

This is especially concerning because my original PlayStation account had a significant amount of progress, and it was already linked to the EA account before I connected Steam.

I have not intentionally created a new Apex account or started over. I’m trying to understand whether my original progress has somehow been disconnected, associated with a different EA account, or if something went wrong during the account-linking/cross-progression process.

Could an EA Help representative or someone knowledgeable about Apex account linking please help me figure out what happened and whether my original PlayStation progress can be recovered?

I can provide any account information, screenshots, or other details needed to verify ownership and investigate the issue.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hey VRDSnikaros,

Are you currently using the EA account that originally had your PSN connected, or is this the new account?

Progress is stored at the EA account level, so if you link a platform to a different EA account, it will only have access to the content there - nothing is copied or transferred over. In those cases, re-linking the platform(s) to the original EA account where the progress was first made would be the only way to try recovering access to that progress.

  • VRDSnikaros Your Apex progress is stored on the EA Account that it was earned/progress on, (not on any individual platform account), so whenever you connect a new platform account to your EA Account, it will only be able to access the existing Apex progress that is on that EA Account.

With that being said, when you connected your Steam Account to same EA Account that was linked to your PlayStation Account, your Steam Account should of been accessing the same Apex progress as your PlayStation Account since both accounts are linked to the same EA Account.

However, because you mentioned having a fresh account on Steam that is now on PlayStation, its possible that you had linked your platform accounts to a different EA Account, (which would not have access to your Apex progress).

To resolve this issue, you would need to link your platform accounts to the correct EA Account, however if the Apex progress does not return, then that would unfortunately mean that the Apex progress was lost, (which cannot be recovered).
