apex putting me on high ping server by defautlt PC

apex has been putting me on 100/200 ping NA servers by default since a couple of weeks. this never used to happen before i switched to steam it seems. i know i can switch servers but it's really annoying having to do this every time i fire up the game. im on pc. im in europe it used to put me on the server closest to me, now it just puts me on a random NA server for some reason
