EA and PS account unlink

Somehow had 2 psn accounts linked to one ea account. I had to unlink one because the game kept saying that the profile was already being used in another session. When I unlinked this account, my brother lost ALL of his progress and is now level 1 with no progress what so ever, including skins and badges. I was under the impression (as listed in the info when unlinking) that he would keep all the progress that he had made on his playstation and I would lose the progress that he had made on my ea account. This is not the case, I kept all his progress and he lost everything. Please help.
