Game still runs badly in Borderless.

NONE OF THESE ISSUES ARE PRESENT IN FULLSCREEN HOWEVER I CANNOT PLAY IN FULLSCREEN FOR MANY REASON ONE OF WHICH IS THAT I NEED TO ALT TAB FREQUENTLY TO TALK TO FRIENDS SINCE I CANNOT SPEAK TO THEM VOCALLY

 

I am mute I need to alt tab to communicate on discord so I need to run the game in Borderless Windowed, however the game runs really bad, it indicates framerates of higher than 60, usually in the maximums of 140-160 but without vsync on the game feels like it's running at 40 fps with really unsmooth feeling camera.

 

With Vsync on I get frequent actual framerate drops to low 30s and adaptive introduces really bad stutters

 

I have tried every imaginable fixes listed on the EA forums and on Reddit, none of them work.

 

CPU: i7 7700k@4.8ghz

GPU: GTX 1070

RAM: 16gb

OS: Win10

 

There are no overheating issues, I have even tried formating to a completely fresh install of Windows and the same problem occurs.

 

THE ONLY "FIX" I HAVE FOUND AND IT IS MORE OF A VERY MINOR FIX THAN AN ACTUAL FIX IS MESSING WITH RTSS' SCANLINE SYNC, BUT THIS INTRODUCES UNBEARABLE INPUT DELAY WHILE MAKING THE GAME RELATIVELY SMOOTH BUT IT IS NOT SOMETHING THAT IS A FIX SINCE WITH MASSIVE INPUT DELAY IT MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT TO PLAY.

    Yep. Happens after disabling everything in msconfig, also happened on a fresh system with only origin, basic drivers and apex legends installed.

    Ok, just so we don't waste a lot of time suggesting things you have already tried, can you give a list of what you have already tried?

    Google "Apex Legends Framerate Fix" "Apex Legends Borderless Windowed smooth" or anything like that and add every single bandaid fix you can think of like fiddling with nvidia control panel, editing the INI, going back to every driver version dating early 2018, modifying windows 10 stuff like editing registry to "optimize" for games and using ultimate power plan. There's way to much for me to list here but that's the gist of it, everything that can be googled for right now I have tried.

    I spent the last 4 days trying random fixes on the internet almost 5-6 hours a day, and absolutely nothing has worked except the RTSS thing with scanline sync, however that introduces major input latency and control floatiness so that's not a fix, just a solution that creates another problem.

    I've been having exactly what you're describing too with a 1080 and a Ryzen 5, does it work ok for you on fullscreen?

    Yep works flawless in fullscreen. But I absolutely need to run the game in borderless.

    Isn't full screen alt tabs fast enough? Like, 1 sec is ok. If you don't have different refresh rates for desktop and game of course.

    It wouldn't be too much of an issue if the screen didn't flash every time you tab out, or occasionally tabs you out just for fun when you're in-game unprompted. But I have the same issue.. on borderless windowed I get between 22 and 45 FPS whilst in Fullscreen mode I get 140+ FPS
