High Latency Opponents - Limit Datacenter choices to under 100ms ping

Limit Datacenter choices to under 100ms ping.

All the "server problems" people complain about are most likely due to the small number of high latency players in their lobby.

There are numerous streamers who advocate using higher ping datacenters to gain an unfair advantage.

I believe these people should be banned according to the TOS.

You reset dashboarders for abusing a glitch.  These people are abusing a built in feature.

  • Limit Datacenter choices to under 100ms ping AND temporary ban people who choose high ping datacenters.

    If high ping players in your lobbies mess the server up for everyone, than Respawn must do something about it; at least implement ping based matchmaking. But when you claim that the server problems is "most likely due" to high ping players makes me wonder what you base this on.

    Me and two friends actually did some experiments on this a while ago, since we also had the theory that high ping is what causes enemy players with stuttering movements and noreg hits etc. So what we did was joined the same lobby in two different team, two of us in one team and the third in the other team. Then we jumped to the most remote location we could, making sure that we were alone. Then we used VPNs to manipulate our pings, switching around from our "normal ping" of 22-25 ms, to 250 ms. And then we fought each other with different combinations of high and low pings. In one trail, player 1 would have 250 ping and player 2 and 3 normal ping. In another trail, player 1 would have normal ping while player 2 and 3 would have 250 ping etc etc.

    And what we saw was this:

    • Shooting with low ping at an enemy with high ping WONT result in no reg hits or bullets passing through the enemy without dmg.
    • Shooting with high ping at an enemy with high ping or low ping wont result in no hits or bullets passing through. The damage sound and damage numbers will "appear" some time after the hit though.
    • The movement of a player with high ping wont stutter or behave strangely on the screen of a player with high or low ping.
    • A player with high ping wont directly cause prediction error symbol for the players around him

    The only effect of playing with high ping that we could find was the "getting shot around corners"-effect, which ofc worked the other way around; a high ping player can both land shot "around corners" and get shot "around corners". Im not saying that high ping players isnt a problem; maybe the server performance is reduced if too many players play with high ping but we can only speculate about that.

    Btw;  I wrote this on a similar thread some time ago but people just called me an idiot and that I had no clue what I was talking about...... So Im the idiot when I base my claims on actual experimentation and observation when they just talk from their gut feelings?  Welcome to the internet 2020 I guess =).

    @Babbediboopi my friends and I add people sometimes if it's another squad that we fight that is really good. The reason that is relevant is we play on west coast US servers, the people who we get paired with thanks to MM come from everywhere from here to China to Australia. Usually when we find someone on the Other side of the globe (high ping) thats when we have the biggest lag issues like rubber banding and bullets going through cover. I'm not saying you are wrong but I think there is a bit more too it than just one thing or the other and I hope they do work on it. (Sidenote : I'm not hating on SBMM im just saying it makes picking a server irrelevant)

    @Babbediboopi Well said.
    "Getting shot around corners" is very frustrating. "Super" bullets, which are taking multiple shots all at once, are also very frustrating.
    I avoid the New York datacenter for these reasons.
