Hitching when paning the camera

I've attached my dxdiag, I believe I'm pretty close to recommended specs - and the problem is the same no matter what graphics setting I used.

Any horizontal movement on the mouse causes the video to hitch for 1/3rd of a second. For simplicity sake I load into the training map, and stand where I spawn. The moment I pan right the video freezes, and the next frame I appear to have turned about 90 degrees when it comes back. Running, strafing, jumping, and zip lining do not cause problems. If I move the mouse diagonally in a more vertical-than-horizontal fashion the hitching isn't as bad.

I'm watching my cpu/memory/gpu usage on a second screen as I play, and nothing is peaking, particularly in the training spawn.

Is there a setting I can tweak?

Edit: Doing a clean boot helped a little, but it's still happening. I have verified my graphics card is selected for this game in the nVidia control panel.

  • Hey @Invernozz, make sure that all drivers for windows and your gpu drivers are up to date.

Try to turn off any overlay programs for example Discord or Nvidia experience.

  • I downloaded the latest drivers Tuesday. Since the clean boot helped, overlays may be contributing, but there is still a bit of hitching even with all the other launchers and social stuff closed. I'd say it's down to about 50-100ms now. That's playable, but it's a pretty big handicap.

  • I thought I had solved this problem by booting with nothing but origin running, which is kind of crazy, but whatever. It came back today. No new software has been installed, nothing has changed with my hardware configuration apart from a new keyboard. Graphics card drivers are confirmed up to date. Windows is as up to date as Easy Anti-Cheat allows.

My pc specs, in case you don't want to look at the dxdiag

    CPU: I7-6700 @ 3.4GHz

    GPU: GTX 970 1GB ram

    RAM: 48GB

Monitors: Two displays, neither configured for G-Sync

    Harddrive: PNY 960GB SSD

UO Trace comes back clean. Speedtest.net reports 96.5mbps down and 11.03mbps up, ping is 23ms. I'm using a hardwired connection.

    Things I've tried:

    • Putting everything to the most barebones settings graphically.
    • Verified my graphics card is selected in the Nvidia Control Panel
    • Clean boot with nothing else running
    • Starting discord, steam, uplay, etc and disabling overlay.
    • Reseating video card, monitors, ram
    • Set launch options to +cl_showfps 1 - which is how I know the client is hitching. I do not get out of frames except when selecting a character.

I'm out of ideas duders. This game should run smooth on this machine. It doesn't. Please give me something to try.

  • And in this last game it didn't seem to be much of an issue. It happened maybe 3 or 4 times, but the game was playable.
