How can I unmerge accounts that I didn’t want merged

My dad and I have both been playing the game for around two years and have both made decent progress in the game. For some reason the accounts merged possibly because the accounts were connected to the same ea account. We didn’t want them merged and now only one of us has our combined stuff. We really didn’t want this to happen and would like our accounts separated.

  • Hey @cwhamilt82 @hazelheart13

    To confirm the process of your account merging with Apex Legends Cross-Progression is automatic for all EA accounts and cannot be undone or opted out.

    What happens is your game will look at all connected platforms that have Apex Legends (EA app, Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo), then it will select a new main account (the one with the highest level) and merge all eligible items into that account. Which can then be used across each connected platform going forward.

    Some exceptions are that certain progress and platform-specific items won't carry over (but can still be accessed on their original platform), and any account created after the Oct 26th, 2023 cut-off date would not be eligible to have its progress/item merged with cross-progression.

    This is one of the reasons why account sharing is not recommended as your accounts will now be merged into one and will not have separate progress. In addition, it is also not allowed per EA's Terms of Service

    If you and someone else were using different platforms on the same account, the only option you would have is to decide which platform would be unlinked from the EA account to be linked to its own EA account.

    Please note, that this would mean not taking the progress and items for that unlinked account with you (as they are stored at the EA account level) and that, depending on the platform, the existing EA account may not be able to connect to another one of that platform in the future.

  • My wife and I have the same issue. And youre telling me that when she unlinked her account from the "merged" account, she loses EVERYTHING. INCLUDING all the items SHE paid for. So when I do this, then I except EA to hold their end of the deal and restore the accounts as they were before the merge. Too easy kids!

    No comments from any of the community managers or anyone from support....that's odd...

  • My brother an I have the same problem. We have been playing Apex since pre-season. We made sperate EA accounts and have separate Xbox emails.. However, his Xbox account's email is my EA email (when he made an Xbox live account he would forget his password so he used my email so I could recover the password since I remember my password). Why couldn't EA see two different emails being used for the accounts? Why did they look at the Xbox emails and assume this is just one account now? There are 3 different emails being used. 3 doesn't equal 1. The math isn't mathing. Since the merge those three emails have become "one" according to EA.

    My brother has put so much money into the game (he basically bought every lifeline skins that was released along with other characters/weapons' skins) and has an heirloom. I had played so many season to the point where I got the guarantee free heirloom at 500 apex pack. We have purchased many battle passes. We have items from seasons that are no longer obtainable(like all the diamond rank badges and special event badges). And your telling me there's no way we can got back to the way it was before cross progression. I don't know how all the coding works but an option could have been given to the players asking if they would like to merge the following accounts. I don't see how that would be hard to code in. Even if that was an option and we just didn't read and accepted the terms thinking Apex wants to remind the players of community guideline. It would have been nice to get a separate page asking to proceed with the merge and not hiding it in a long list.

    At this point I have come to the point thinking we should just unmerge the accounts so we can at least have one account with all the items while the other starts over. But we can't do that. For some reason there is not option to unlink the Xbox accounts. I know one will be rest and my brother and I have decided he will keep the items because he put way more money into the game. I just have more time. It's not like I have anything better to do. Might as well open another 500 Apex packs to the my heirloom again. I can always wait for the store to give me back my red and blue racecar Wattson skin. I won't have all the characters nor badges. But I can get the items I loved after playing another 268679 min (186 days 13 hrs 59 mins) worth of Apex. I have accepted that fact and it pains me. But, why the F don't I have an option to unmerge the accounts in "manage my account". {Look at the first figure.}

    My brother and I haven't played because we were told the problem would get fixed or worked on. We left the account alone hoping as long as we do don't play on it, it would be easy to revert the accounts to the way they were. We occasionally hoped on the game to see if the problem was fixed. I waited for any emails updating our issue. But I never received any updates on our issue. All I was asked was to provide feedback on how the custom serves was. If I recall ya'll said yourself that I would be updated. {Look at the second figure.} Where are my updates. Even if its bad news telling me there is nothing to be done.

    I miss playing apex and the skins were the best part. But the skins can be replaced (well not the ones from old battle passes). This game was the only game that brought me joy. I literally have no motivation do anything cause I know there hasn't been any progress on our issue. I get online to play games but nothing brings me joy any. There is not game like Apex. I've tried numbing the pain by playing OverWatch. Do you know how terrible a game OverWatch is? This * of a game drives you crazy and makes you depress cause the devs on OW are on crack and don't fix their game. I just want to play Apex again on my Xbox account. I don't want to make a smurf account just to play Apex.
