My account was reset due to cross progression

I have played Apex on PS5 for a couple years now. I recently bought a PC and wanted to play on that, so I linked my steam account to my EA account (I only have one EA account, and it is definitely the correct one). I opened Apex through steam and had no progress. I then opened Apex on my PS5 and my progress was reset there too. 

I started a support case and the agent said that for some reason my progress was reset due to cross progression. He was as confused as I was. It's been 3 days, and I have checked both platforms every day in case it was just a delay but there is nothing.

The agent basically admitted that this is EAs fault, do I get any compensation for this? I spent a lot of time and money on that account. I would like to play Apex (or any  EA game) again but I will not unless I get something back.

It also says that my account has only been active since 2025, but I have receipts in the email for currency I bought in 2024.

Has this happened to anyone else?

    That is me, the PS one shows me being level 1 (reset), and the steam one is my actual progress. What is going on?

    I would appreciate any insight you have on this. Is it even possible to check an EA account's link history like that agent said? If so, would it be possible to find out the previous EA account my PS account was linked to?

    Yea that is what I was thinking too, but the only other EA account I have is my old Xbox one account. I contacted support using that account too, and asked if there was a way to check if there was ever a PS account linked to it and they said they could. They checked and there has never been a PS account linked to that EA account. 

    Another thing is I have never unlinked my PS account from my EA account. I actually don't think I have ever been on the EA account page until I got BF6 on PC and had to link. 

    So unless the support agent couldn't actually see the other EA account's link history, and my PS account somehow got automatically unlinked, I don't really know what happened.

    Hey WhasAID​,

    Sorry for any concerns with this reset progress. This has less to do with Cross Progression (as that's active on all accounts, and is not something that would be delayed or reset progress at this stage) and more to do with unlinking a platform or linking one to a different EA account. 

    Progress is stored on the EA account level, not on individual platforms like PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, etc. This means if you link your platform to a different EA account, you'll lose access to that progress and it will appear to have reset. That looks to be the case in this situation as well.

    The EA account you're currently posting with wasn't created until some point last year, and had never launched Apex on any platform until very recently. Since you've been playing for a couple years, that progress must be on a different EA account. Depending on where you purchased the currency you've mentioned, it's certainly possible the same email was used for an entirely separate account (such as a PSN account). That would get receipts from purchases through PlayStation, but wouldn't indicate whichever EA account itself was used.

    I do see you mentioned having only one EA account, but there's certainly another EA account that has that progress. Linking the PSN account back to that original EA account would be the only way to try recovering that progress. From there, you'd want your Steam account linked to that EA account as well, rather than this one.
