Re: apex legends kills my internet

Having the same problem on PS4 Pro. Once I'm in a game, usually within 5 minutes of dropping, I'll suddenly lag out of the game. Returning to the PS4 home menu shows that the wifi is no longer connected. By going to network settings > test internet connection, I'm able to reestablish wifi and jump back into the game, but this usually takes at least a minute. Specifically, the wifi ONLY drops in an actual match, not in the lobby or at any other times. It also only drops once per match, and after I fix it, it doesn't occur for the rest of the game.

I've tried the usual steps of restarting the game, PS4, and router. PS4 is configured to only use 2.4GHz band for stability. No other devices on my network are dropping wifi, eg my wife will be playing Apex on PC at the same time without the issue. It seems like somehow the game is briefly turning off the wifi card in the PS4 itself...

  • Responding - of having the same issue - PC. Internet connection drops in apex legends, I am wired to the router. Wifi still works on my phone and other users using the same internet. Just made the connection this afternoon as roommates were having a party for new years and they didn't lose connection. Been happening for about 3 weeks now - maybe once or twice a session - most recent connection it dropped multiple times every game.

    I have Mediacom 1gb down 50 up. Using either St. Louis or one of the Iowa servers.

    Hi @markvikingman

    When you've got a chance would you be able to share a DxDiag so we can take a look? For more information on how to pull one up check out the EA Help website. Once you have the text file please attach it to this thread.

    Thanks!

    @ForeignFilm

    Thanks for the info. That's an interesting note about the Origin client. I'm curious if there might actually be an issue with the Origin client's cached data that might be causing this to happen.

    When you have a chance can you try clearing out the Origin cache to see if that helps at all? For more info on how to clear it check out the EA Help website. Let me know how that goes once you've been able to give it a try. Thanks!

  • I'll go ahead and add on to this thread. Playing Apex causes my internet to lose connection intermittently (shows code:net). The problem persists from 15-30 seconds and the only time my internet drops is while playing Apex. I have multiple computers in front of me for work and they all lose connection at the same time (just saying to indicate it's not a single PC problem). Also I don't think it's an Origin problem as I'm on Steam.

    @EA_Kentwhat other information would you like me to provide?

    Hardware:

    i7 8700

    EVGA 1060 6GB

  • Are there any similar diagnostic steps to take on the Ps4 Pro? I'm still having the issue fairly regularly, and it's really frustrating when the game drops out mid fight

    Hi there,

    Thanks for the additional info!

    Who is your ISP, and what type of modem/router are you using if you don't mind me asking?

    /Kent

  • No problem!

    I'm using Cox as my ISP. My modem is a Netgear CM700 and my router is a Ubiquity ER-X.

    @TurqouiseJeepTTV

    Got it, thanks. I haven't seen any issues reported with that particular router or modem. Have you checked to make sure there aren't any firmware updates available for your hardware?

    /Kent

  • @EA_Kent

    I did have a few firmware updates to do which I went ahead and accomplished. I'll continue to play the game and post an update whether it was the problem or not.

    @TurqouiseJeepTTV

    Much appreciated! Feel free to give me a shout here once you've had the chance to play a bit.

    /Kent

  • Not sure if anyone has found the answer, but from the ISP side, its because apex legends net code isn't closing sessions properly. Not sure why or how but its leaving network sessions open and opening more, the router thinks its under a DoS attack and resets itself. Have been on multiple trouble calls for it. Some fixes I have seen work are updating network card drivers and getting a non isp router that handles the connections better.

  • @EA_Kent

    I've played quite a bit since this last post and the issue seems to be gone! Not sure if it was the firmware updates or the patch that came out soon after that fixed it though. Either way, the problem is no longer present for me.

    Thanks!

  • I am on PS4 and ever since the most recent patch Apex makes my whole WiFi malfunction.

    It normally starts by giving me a code 100 and even when it does not I join into a lobby with friends and it wont register on my screen when I ready up and it will let the friends in my lobby join a game, but wont even attempt to have me join the game.

    Also after getting on apex it makes all my other WiFi applications/devices malfunction. (Discord mainly). Every time I try I have to reset my router afterwards.

    I play other online games and this has never been an issue until I tried to start playing Apex again. I have 750mb internet.

    Will have to delete the game until the issue is fixed so it doesn’t mess with my WiFi anymore.
