Re: Blurry textures

@wolf109909  Hi, my hdd hard drive is quite new, i bought it 6 months ago and i often defragmented it with windows tool. I confirm that my motherboard is in pcie 2.0, it is a ga-h81m-s2vp. My processor and my motherboard date from 2014, I have an i5 4460 ... Here is a screen of my gpuz

  • HI! About the PCIe bandwidth it’s not necessary to upgrade for a new motherboard since gtx 1060 won’t eat up all pcie 3.0 x16.  People with x8 works just fine on the internet so it should not be a problem. I also find someone with 3gb 1060 and pcie 3.0x16 with the same issue. I also I have a pretty new hard drive at 7200rpm hooked on my pc . I will do a test between my hdd and ssd for you to see if even native 7200rpm at their best performance still struggles the texture stream and try to poke around for something useful if hdd environment is mostly the case. But I’m not a ea developer here I don’t guarantee you with completely solving this. I will try and if doesn’t work then it’s probably a game glitch for hdd support or such. Would you mind adding me on steam for real-time feedback or just posting your ingame settings here?

@wolf109909 Hi, I think it's better that we discuss here because if other people have the same problem as me, they may have the solution 🙂
  • Sure thing! I've done some tests on my SSD and HDD. The result shows SSD and HDD have no significant or noticeable difference in terms of texture stream while gaming. only a bit longer to load in the game and may have longer preload time in the menu. BTW I'm running my game on all HIGH including anisotropic filtering which is related to LOD stuff. try to make your setting to high and see if the texture loads faster. GTX1060 should be enough for 60fps at the highest settings.

Ok, I test this as soon as I play, I'll let you know the results!

Well, I have adjusted the texture parameters in the game to 8go de vram but that does not change anything ...Even with the highest graphics settings, nothing changes ...
  • Hmm.. unfortunately you might be running into issues from storage. And also have you tried nvidia control panel settings I mentioned before?
If it’s possible posting a video of your game play so we can determine the speed of loading textures and may point out what’s wrong. I’m going to do more test on this. My friend with 7700k and 1080ti setup had exactly the same issue the whole time and he said that his hdd is really old and terrible. Like he races how slow his hdd compared to others in rainbow six siege and he seldom loses XD

I have already reset the NVIDIA panel settings and it hadn't changed anything. I will send you a video as soon as possible
  • @MrTux I'm in the same situation, i7770k nvidia 1660 super and i've tried both ssd and hdd, changing stuff in nvcp and even messing with texture streaming budget but nothing worked for me. My textures are slow when loading and also they keep reloading. I don't know what to do cause my game was running good like a month ago, and then I started having this problem randomly.
  • @AlexxRezz That’s a weird one. Have you used any of those command arguments on startup? And please tell us your RAM details for some comparisons. More data we got more close we get to the answer. We should make this to bug reports if it didn’t workout finally.

I haven't used any of those command arguments on startup. I have 8Gb of ram in ddr3 1333 MHz
  • @MrTux That’s kinda slow for a heavily single threaded game like this to be honest..
How was the ram usage while you’re gaming?

@wolf109909 Hey, i have 16 gb of ram ddr4, and i'm only using fps max unlimited, but i also tried without it and it's still the same ☹️
  • @AlexxRezz Btw since your pc are in pretty good spec, try manually setting lod_switch_scale to 1 in local videoconfig.cfg
And see if that works any better for you. It might help tux out too if it actually works!

what exactly does it do to change this value?

@wolf109909 Thanks so much, but i already tried it ☹️. I also recorded a video of this problem. Honestly i always had problems with this game because even with my setup and my connection (not too bad) my game doesn't run as smooth as it should be most of the time, and now i don't know if texture is the problem. This is the video i did : 2:38,4:04, 4:59 you can undertand what i mean.

my problem is not exactly the same as you, textures take a long time to load only in the character selection menu for me.
  • @AlexxRezzYes... the game is still not optimized and have many issues. Considering the game was literally rushed out with ttf2 assets and the same engine made from source engine this really makes sense. This model and texture lod and overall performance is really dependent on environment. Many people struggles to play the game at 90fps with 5600x and 3090 which is even kinda overkill for this game. And for all the time I thought this is how source works so I’ve never really care about this as a problem since it doesn’t really disturb me too much in the game. So I just run everything at low. I can see what ea trying to do is that they made lod really sensitive so you can have more consistent FPS with different scenes. Clearly that need much more optimizing for indistinguishable gameplay. I will submit these to bug reports so maybe EAs devs could have a look into these. And btw your FPS looks pretty okay In that video but I know it feels stuttering in gameplay? I had this issue before and I solve it by just turning my mouses polling rate to 500 instead of 1000. You can have a try too if that’s the same case

  • @MrTux Yes the texture load do have some glitch at the menu. I have noticed it in my gameplay too and it looks like if I move my mouse to load others model and it loads fast. I move my mouse pointer back to the legend I tried to select before and it also loads fast. It could be more like a glitch. The actual in game loading time is not really noticeably slow so I think your game setting and pc spec is capable. I will submit this to bug reports also.

@wolf109909 Yeah i kinda have microstutters, but i still don't understand how since i have a gsync 144hz monitor and i've tried every combination. Sometimes It runs good but honestly it's very rare. In firing range it feels way better so i thought It could be a net issue but i also tried turning everything off but no changes sadly (55mbps del, 8ms, 20mpbs upl). I would love to modify the mouse polling rate but honestly i don't really know how to do It since my mouse Is a trust and did not find any trust software. By the way thank you so much for your time!!
  • @AlexxRezz no problem mate. the stutter problem has many things to do with it so I'm not really sure where to start. but what I did to solve this was to first change my mouse polling rate to 500hz, which made the game works fine on my laptop. it was stuttering while in mouse movement heavy place. but on my PC, once I did some photoshop project that made my desktop a mess. and I play the game finding my framerate is really terrible like 80fps or so on the lowest settings with RTX2070SUPER. immediately I clean my desktop, made it have little or no files or shortcuts and my game works perfectly fine with steady 165fps(default locked with
144hz screen) since then. you can try by moving everything on your desktop to a folder, but not deleting them. backup important data before doing this.

@wolf109909 yeah i don't know how to change mouse's polling rate, but the texture thing is really getting me mad. I tried to contact ea several times, of course they don't care so i'm probably quitting i guess
