This is getting ridiculous, last season, I couldn’t play a match without experiencing stuttering every few seconds. And now, they fixed the stutter but the game freezes randomly. What the heck are they doing over at respawn???
I think I found something...
if in beta update we have to add "-eac_launcher_settings SettingsDX12.json" so I try to change it to "-eac_launcher_settings Settings.json"
The location of the file is in
..ApexLegends/EasyAntiCheat/Launcher

Posting for visibility - having the same issue. Last season, my game froze regularly during the countdown right before character select. The workaround I used during last season, alt-tabbing out whil the game was launching and alt-tab back in once the team/champion squad screen appeared worked then (still weird, but worked).
Since the update, same as you guys - game freeze usually within a minute of landing. The longest game I've had this season was 6 minutes until it froze, couldn't play a single game through to the end.
Saddest thing is that there doesn't seem to be any response whatsoever from Respawn. Guess this is it for me for the time being (started playing in week 2 after the game released). Will keep an eye out if there's any more fixes I can try (tried all that have been mentioned here by other community members) and hope that if enough people have the same problem, Respawn will look into it.

You took words from my fingers buddy KEKW. Loba patch made the game stuttering and laggy with red icons, now they patched it somehow and now I am stuck with random freeze and need to kill the game in task manager. So I wonder which issue was worse, laggy or crashing HEHE...but yea it is exactly the same for me as it is for you.
EDIT: By the way guys, I had an huge problem with lags after Loba Heirloom patch, made a thread about it with like 200 reply from others having same problem, we were asking if they atleast are aware of the issue and we never heard anything from them. And here it is kind of the same, none of the EA employe answer anything back to us regarding this problem so I am afraid it might be the same as it was for me before this problem. And that is just no knowledge about anything and just wait till they somehow fix it or perhaps fix and replace it with yet another bug.
Just did as we were told - added the command line (+watchdog_time_milliseconds 30000), got into a game, which predictably froze after about 3 minutes, waited and hit cancel on the pop up. Hope this helps them get to the bottom of this.
Like the title states whenever I open Apex Legends it opens for about 3 seconds going through the little Ea Intro scene, and then closes abruptly before finishing. I cannot for the life of me figure out why this is occuring. I am running the game through Steam.
Steps I have tried so far:
-Verifying the game files through Steam
-Run the Easy Anti Cheat repair service
-Unisntalled and reinstalled the game
-Run Apex Legends in Admin Mode
-Force open the game in windowed mode
-Disable gaphics optimization
-Turned off in-game overlays
-Updated graphics drivers
-Updated Windows
Played all day yesterday.
Today, game keeps crashing to desktop. Something about failed to initialize sound system.
Nothing has changed on my system?
I've been having the same error. Game ran perfectly fine Nov.3rd, tried booting up all day on the 4th and had this error. After hitting okay, the game crashes, I get a pop up from easy anti cheat in the bottom corner that says it detects an untrusted system file "DXGIDebug.dll". I pray that something can be done about this i've been feeling really down about not being able to play this game.
So S15 is there, and, of course, bugs. This was not a problem in recent season, but now it is just wrong, the worst kind of bug. I would pray to God if it crashed at the time the game freezes, but not. I just need to ENDTASK it, taking ages to end task and restart the game, hoping that it will rejoin the match and not being killed by some random dude who found a FREE kill. It just becomes black screen, with broken sound (same as Counter-Strike 1.6 when you go off the map and sound starts repeating). But Apex makes no difference. It just randomly crashes, with no damn reason. This crash damaged my score more than all my deaths. Ok, I would understand if that happens rarely, so players wouldn't worry about bugs. But it happens EVERY damn game. And furthermore, it happens multiple times sometimes! Suggestions I received were: "Use DirectX 12" (what's wrong with D3D11? It is not like Source doesn't support it...), and of course, I would be told by EA to reset my rooter (ironically) or constantly being blamed that it is my issue and not theirs (ofc it is their issue).
Noo, wait. Respawn decided that server issues and renderer issues are unimportant, so they decided to make a new UI look for Apex and add 500 apex coins in shop.
And stop wasting your time telling that it is my problem. Fix your game if you know how.
During every 1st game of the day when I log on, que into a match, my screen freezes and then Apex boots me for some kind of server error. Then when I restart steam and apex, the game gives me an abandon penalty. Then while waiting my penalty out, I get more drops.

same problem !!! i have windows 8.1 and i5 3470 ( i would think is the problem my gpu is getting too old ) i have direct x11 instead of 12....my sound card is updated my video card gtx 1050 is still working good for the game...i played the first day of the new season, and the day after started to crash at begin with the same message ...engine error ......couldnt create Xaudio2 ....

I’ve had enough. Tried to play it but it’s unplayable because they pieces of * cannot fix anything. I hope everyone that has the same problem leaves this game for good. They suck at fixing this game so * bad it’s ridiculous.
