I've reinstalled my NVidia drivers cleanly using DDU. I played a few games and it was fine but then the same problem occurred. The application got dead frozen in the last stage from selection to the map (the last banner animation). Had to use task manager to kill it.
For me it ONLY happens in the legend select, as if its having a hard time switching models or something. It never happens once I'm in the map

Can you include a DxDiag for us?
How to gather DxDiag information

Please update your Windows 10 build to the latest version and I see some Xbox gamer Bar errors. Try disabling that and play the game after you have the latest Windows 10 build.
pls help me too, I have the same problem, i was selecting a legend or playing the game and it suddenly freezed, i have to kill it with the task manager, this happens to me every 2 or 3 matchs
I've updated Windows 10 to the latest build 1903 and removed Xbox gamer bar services from this laptop, but the first game I tried playing my game froze at the moment when there is a countdown before the champion selection. Also I've noticed that whenever Apex freezes it's disk usage goes to like 50 Mb/s in task manager and just stays this high value even though the game is frozen and not responding

Do you have Origin and Apex both installed on the same drive? I would double-check to see if Origin is installed on multiple drives by accident, I've seen that lead to performance issues before.
If you have it installed on one drive, try going to another drive and unplug the other external drives to see if that has any relation to why it's freezing. Strange the disk usage peaks, but we might be on the right path here! Well, I had Origin and the game installed on the same drive. After trying to put Apex on a different drive, immediately my game froze and the same behavior for the hard drive resulted. Thanks. Also, I've noticed that there is much less chance for freeze if I Alt+Tab to desktop and wait until my character is in a dropship, but its not ideal
Just bumping this thread because I am having the exact same issue. Freeze happens almost exclusively during splash screens between the end of hero select and start of match (usually the last one after your squad banners and champ squad banners, right before dropship). I have had it happen during hero select once or twice, and I think maybe once in the dropship just after loading in. This just started happening maybe a week ago, but I've been playing since S1 with no issues on the exact same hardware.
CPU is an i3
8 gigs of RAM
GTX 970
I thought it was the hard drive at first because it's old. I uninstalled apex and origin altogether and did a fresh install on a new drive. It didn't fix the issue. I've updated to the latest nvidia drivers and windows is up to date. I usually get about 2-3 matches before it crashes, but if I restart the game right away after crash multiple times over it becomes more frequent. At one point it crashed 3 times - i restarted each time - and couldn't play a match because it crashed before the dropship every time. I know my hardware is old, but like I said I've been playing since S1 just fine. I also don't have this issue with any other games (Rocket League, Remnant: From the Ashes, Outer Worlds, Monster Hunter World).
EDIT: Attached DxDiag as I forgot to attach it when I posted originally
Hey @EA_Blueberry this is not a system issue. It only started happening after the latest duo update. Please let the devs know. Its impossible to play 2 straight games without facing this issue.
- @EA_Blueberry I stopped having this problem when I closed MSI afterburner before launching the game.

I've seen performance issues get fixed by closing or uninstalling programs like MSI Afterburner, but it's not going to work for everyone due to different PC setups. Always worth a try though to help narrow down what could be the root cause.
Let us know what you think of the Season 5 when it launches and whether you experience any other technical issues at it's launch. Have fun! - @EA_Blueberry Thanks looking forward!
