Severe Unplayable Packet Loss Issue With Wired 1GB Xfinity Connection

Edit: Why the **bleep** is this being marked as spam and deleted by the system? Can you guys please just fix your game, holy **bleep**!

I’m escalating a severe, ongoing packet loss issue in Apex Legends on PS5 that’s rendered the game unplayable with constant packet loss indicator symbol, and occasional prediction error and latency network error symbols, with inbound loss often hitting 50%+ while other games and services run fine. I have consistent 1GB Download/ 100MB upload speeds using multiple speed tests. I live in Boston, MA and I have the 1Gbps plan with XB8-T modem with Xfinity. When playing, I have 0 outbound packet loss, and my ping is 30 - 35 ms.

I’ve completely exhausted troubleshooting:

  • Multiple Ethernet cable replacements.
  • Coax line replacement.
  • Repeated modem restarts.
  • Apex reinstall + PS5 database rebuild.
  • Manual server selection (e.g., Iowa/Ohio/SC; avoiding protected ones when possible).
  • WiFi + Xfinity Mobile hotspot tests (same backbone, same issue).
  • In-match reconnect attempts.
  • Port forwarding (UDP 37000-38000, TCP/UDP 3074, 9307-9308).
  • DNS changes (Google 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4, Cloudflare 1.1.1.1/1.0.0.1).
  • PS5 MTU adjustments (1473, 1450).

Similar reports from other Xfinity users (e.g., East Coast wired connections) point to upstream routing/peering problems between Xfinity and EA’s Apex servers—not my local hardware. Neighbors on Xfinity see identical behavior.

EA_MakoEA_MariEA_PoppyEA_Lanna @literally anyone Please escalate to Tier 2/3 network engineering for:

  • Line signal review
  • Backbone rerouting or peering investigation.
  • Traceroute/PingPlotter results to Apex servers (e.g., virginia-gce.apexlegends.ea.com (http://virginia-gce.apexlegends.ea.com/) showing ISP-hop drops).

After countless troubleshooting attempts and conversations with Xfinity representatives and networking engineers, I believe this issue lies with EA server-side, not Xfinity. Based on other threads on the EA forums, this seems to have been an issue introduced within the last few months.

This has impacted my gaming for way longer than I’m comfortable with, and is a dealbreaker for playing this game I love and have spent money on, and would like to continue supporting.

This is an issue affecting a lot of players, please give it the attention it deserves.
