Steam Account Linked to New EA Email by Mistake (Need to Re-Link to Original)

Hello,

Recently, I made an unintentional mistake with my EA/Origin account linked to Apex Legends. My Apex Legends profile had been registered with my old email address for a long time and was linked to my Steam account. However, during the Battlefield 6 playtest registration, I accidentally created a new EA account with a different email address. At that point, I mistakenly unlinked my Steam account from my old email and linked it to the new one.

The next day, when I tried to play Apex Legends, I realized my account had been reset to level 1. After some investigation, I understood that this happened due to the email/account change. I would like to restore everything back to how it was, meaning I want to re-link my Steam account to my original EA account (with the old email). Unfortunately, when I try, I receive a message saying that my Steam account is already linked to another EA account, and that I can only attempt to link again in February 2026.

I submitted a support ticket on EA.com a couple of weeks ago, but I haven’t received any response yet. I am quite disappointed that my issue hasn’t been addressed, as this account means a lot to me. I would be very grateful if someone could help me resolve this matter and restore my Apex Legends progress.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Hey there, once you unlink a platform account from your EA Account and link it to a new one, you can’t unlink it again for six months.

For your Apex account, the progress is saved on your EA account. So if you still have access to the EA account where your Steam was linked to, you can try to download the game on your EA app and log in with the EA account that was linked to your Steam account previously. Then download Apex Legends through the EA app and check if your progress is still there. It's not guaranteed that you will be able to recover the progress as the accounts have been linked, but it's worth checking it.

I’ve tried everything, but I still can’t log into my main profile. It says that my email is already in use and that I need to wait until February 2026 before I can unlink it. Could you please explain why the system is designed this way? Is there really no way to speed up this process?

What I need is for my new email to be unlinked, so I can link it back to my old email. I can provide any personal details or verification documents required to prove ownership of my account.

I understand it was my own mistake linking my Steam account with the wrong email, but does this mean I risk losing access to my entire profile if I try to go back to my old email? That seems very concerning, especially since I’ve spent money on battle passes and skins. It feels unfair that, aside from being banned, I could also lose everything just because of an accidental email link.

If you don't have access to the EA account where your Steam was previously linked to, you can try contacting EA Help for further assistance. In regard to your question about the account linking, you can find further information here

Currently, I am writing from my old email account, which is linked to my Apex Legends profile. Unfortunately, I am unable to link this profile to my Steam account, because my Steam is already linked to another EA account under my new email.

As you mentioned before, in order to link my Apex Legends profile back, I would first need to unlink it from my new email account. However, due to your account linking rules, I am required to wait six months before I can perform this action.

I submitted a ticket to EA Help about two weeks ago, but I have not received any response yet

Have you tried downloading the game on your EA app with your old EA account to see if you can access your account progress?
