Neither you or I represent the Battlefield community. Everyone has their own opinion on the matter. There are plenty of players that do enjoy the faster movement. You can compare those people to "COD players", but people already did that 2 decades ago. It's a classic comparison that holds absolutely zero meaning.
As far as I'm concerned, I don't think there's anything wrong with the slide. It perfectly aligns with the pacing of the rest of the game. They wanted a faster movement system and sliding does what it's supposed to do. It allows you to be more flexible when it comes to utilizing cover. If the gameplay is fast, but your character movement can't keep up, it just means that you'll get killed while feeling that you couldn't do anything about it. Offensively, it's not all that good, because it locks you in a single direction and a skilled player will simply kill you when you abuse it without any thought.
In Battlefield 4 we had techniques like the "ZouZou Jump", "Vault-ZouZou/VouZou Jump" etc, these were mostly skill-based exploits but could be used with fewer limitations. Ensuring that such movement techniques are available to everyone, maintains the skill-based aspect, but removes the need to exploit.
What you want is a different game. You want a slower, more methodical game and that's completely fine. Battlefield 6 isn't going to become a substantially slower game though. At best you'll get minor tweaks that might slow the game down marginally, but it's quite likely that it'll still be too sweaty for you. Perhaps hosting your own portal content will offer you the customization you want though.
ghostflux I can sure you, you want the slide to be little far less search for videos in youtube and you will find sweaty cod players abusing game making everyone ragebait, and than come to me and say you know what you might be right it does need a little tweek that the slide is too far specialy after jump>slide..
