Call of Duty 2.0

Well, they've done it. They've successfully replicated COD. 👏I seen the signs but just didn't want to believe it. The game honestly feels like a watered down version of CODS weapon game play mixed with Battlefield mechanics. A fast paced shooter that rewards thoughtless actions while completely removing the tactical side of Battlefield that us veteran players LOVED about the game. Most of the map sizes are easily comparable to that of CODs: SMALL. This common map layout scale mixed with battlefields player count makes for the perfect recipe for pure chaos. This imbalance of players to a map substantially nukes the quantity, quality, and diversity of spawns. This makes them more likely to be remembered and manipulated to the enemy players advantage while also increasing your chances of being spawned close to those enemy players. This makes contested objectives that you have to spawn onto nearly impossible to defend. This also inadvertently gives birth to a more stagnant game play by forcing an objective player that also prioritizes not dying to diverge from the type of game play that they enjoy. Basically, forget about the loyal battlefield players who've played the game for years even before the recent spike in popularity. Also, the new map that was recently released is subpar and structurally underdeveloped. Oilfield, to me, just seems bland and stale with a lack of details. There is almost no cover in between large open spaces essentially setting yourself up for a quick death when traveling on foot to attack an enemy objective that has players defending it.  Essentially, they somewhat followed the blueprint Activision had set and successfully took most of their player base. They made a big bet and it's safe to say it's paying off because most of Activions player base has been consistently playing Battlefield.  Declining revenues, stock price drops, and criticism over past game quality has pushed them to aggressively target and cater to the massive and extremely frustrated community of Activisions Call of Duty franchise.. They saw an opportunity and proceeded to bet BIG on it. I knew they were positioning their selves to compete with Activision when finding out about the massive amount of money they invested into the production of this game. I guess it makes sense that they would start scaling back on quality to save a couple bucks on the production side of the newly released maps with each season. It would also seem almost intuitive that they would target their competitors larger cohort of FPS players. Their promotional advertisements repeatedly jabbed COD with satire. Now that they've got the player base population consistent. I feel like it's time to flood the game store with cosmetics that most COD players have come to love and WILL spend extra money on. It's all about the dollars at the end of the day I guess. I just hope this underdevelopment and replication of COD won't be a reoccurring trend in the future for the Battlefield franchise. My conjecture is that they will stay on that route because it is most profitable.

What are your thoughts?

  • I was playing cod 6-8 months ago,  the whole match there were a bunch dolphins (or aome silly thing) and some other immature skins running around bunny hopping and butt sliding during the whole match.

After the match I uninstalled the game as I being an adult was not their target audience.   I have always played both cod and Bf.   Went back and just played 2042 and V.   It was so much better....

But now I am playing bf6 and minus the childish skins I see the bunny hopping and butt sliding,  its turning into cod.

The sniping is cod style,   point and shoot.  No skill,  the speed of the game is also alot like cod. Its sad to see...
