Forum Discussion
Dear EA,
More feedback,
After my difficult 13–2 loss, which I also mentioned here on the forum, my next match ended 8–0 in my favor. During that game I noticed something very different: my AI appeared active and responsive, constantly supporting play and defending as a unit.
What triggered that? I would genuinely like to know so that I could have this level of responsiveness consistently.
However, at the same time it seemed that my opponent’s AI was largely inactive, which allowed me to move past his players quite easily (I was flying around them as if I was on Amateur mode and he was on Ultimate mode — you know, like the difficulty levels in single-player. I remember back in the day on PS One we were able to do that when playing against each other: we could set one side to Professional or Amateur and the other side to World Class, you know just for laughs. And I swear to you, this felt exactly the same.)
In other words, the situation felt almost completely reversed compared to my previous match.
I scored eight goals but stopped attacking aggressively around the 70th minute. I admit I probably should have stopped scoring earlier, and my sincere apologies to my opponent. However, for the sake of this post I wanted to see how long the match would continue under those conditions. It was clear that my opponent was trying to play normally and was making a genuine effort, but he was effectively left on his own against a team that was operating as a fully organized unit.
To be clear, I am not sharing this example because I want easier matches or because I am trying to flex. In fact, my goal is the opposite — I would prefer this type of behaviour to be completely removed from the gameplay so that both players’ teams function consistently.
Could you please investigate which systems or gameplay logic might be responsible for situations where the AI appears to become inactive or significantly less responsive?
I am simply trying to think through possible explanations based on the game’s internal logic, so please forgive me if some of these questions sound simplistic. For example:
- Could this be related to tactics or formations, particularly when both players use similar setups, but the outcome benefits only one side? (Just trying to think outside the box.)
- Is it possible that certain tactical and formation combinations benefit one side while negatively affecting the other?
- Could the system be reacting to the result of the previous match — for example, after losing 13–2, could the AI behaviour change significantly in the following game?
I am simply trying to understand what might be causing such large differences between matches.
I would also like to add that the player I faced appears to have been playing the game for at least four years, based on the information visible in his game tag/ID. As I mentioned earlier, he was clearly making the effort to play the match properly, but he was effectively left on his own.
For that reason, I find it difficult to believe that I would have been able to dominate the match to that extent if we had both been playing under the same conditions.
To put your observation in to a simple term.
It is psychological warfare to induce spending. Nothing more, nothing less. It is actually pretty evil if you ask me.
