As I'm sure most of us know, there's usually one or two team comps that completely dominate in practically all game modes. Right now, it's Rebels and Empire. But the question is, is it even worth it? Sure, it's fun to have a team that dominates and to win a lot, but often times your favorite characters can be omitted from your team solely because they're simply not THE BEST characters. I actually started farming rebels, but stopped because I don't really care about those characters as much (especially because I don't have Han, and GM Luke isn't in the game yet). I love Yoda and Old Ben but they're kinda obsolete. I don't know, I just wonder if it's worth sacrificing arena dominance for the sake of having your favorite characters on your team. I'd like to hear your guys' thoughts on metas and if you'd like for the game to be more balanced in order for your favorite characters to actually have an impact.

I'd say get a meta team and then build your dream team. That's what I did and I'm having lots of fun in GW!

Play your own game the way it's fun for you. Arena is only a small portion of the game and it seems most toons will get there day to shine. Side note rebels and empire are smart to have for every aspect of the game, I wouldn't cast them aside completely. And g11 zeta yoda is a bad mofo

Ive played this game for probably 5 months now (started a while ago, took a few month break and I'm starting back up again). It just seems kinda annoying to have to be insanely good in order to compete

Working on my wiggs team has increased my output in rancor raid so id say yes.

Getting a meta team isn't only useful in arena. As you progress GW becomes harder, so you need a reliable team to get you through. Otherwise you end up on the GW mega thread complaining about how impossible it is. Get a few meta teams before you focus on your favorites or else you could reach a situation where a new favorite toon comes out but you don't have the power to do the raid or do the GW to get enough ally points.

You can farm some non-meta teams and have fun too... You don't need META to be in top 50. Ewoks continue to shine in GW and Rancor, my full jawa (g11) team is in top 50 and can clear gw nearly by themselves (yes i face chirrut and baze, wiggs teams, and tfp teams...).
Just, focus on a team, and only one at a time. When they'll be geared enough, you'll be making your way through top 50 arena, and then focus on another one.
I'm a non-meta player, and meta teams are easy to come by on offense around those ranks.

META teams are good to improve your dream team since you will be able to have for currencies everywhere (GW, Raids and Arena), so you could improve your dream team faster. I'm not a real fan of rebels, but I developed them to get EP. I do not use Wiggs anymore in arena but still, are useful in Raid and GW.

I'm now using Lando (L), STHan, GS, EP and QGJ in arena and have fun even if I'm 60-80 everyday. But I had to develop rebels to reach faster my goals.

I have always figured a META team was just a team that gave most consistant output for the least ammount of input - most bang for the buck (where buck is ammount of effort put into the team, not $$$)

In other words, a meta team is a team that would have the highest probability of winning when used by someone who is better at reading then thinking. A prerequisite for meta is that it is weak against itself, because "everyone" will run it, and it can't be a meta unless it beats most popular teams out there.

Also as far as metas go, it helps when the result is largely determined by RNG. That way if one fails, one can always try the same thing one more time - and succeede.

I don't care about metas if I don't like the characters. I have no idea who is Wedge or Biggs, so I won't follow the blind crowd just to have "wiggs" in arena. I like Jedis, so I play with them. The same with Vader - I like him, so I farm him. For me it's quite clear. Game is supposed to be fun.
