stop giving us new content and PLEASE fix your game.

I wanted to make a more in detail post (TLDR at the end for anyone who doesn't want to read my yap session!)  on this forum because I feel like it needs to be talked about as more than a frustrated vent, but the sims 4 team needs to slow down on new content and focus on fixing their game. I understand the devs work really hard and no game is 100% bug free but this is genuinely starting to feel excessive and it's making the game really difficult to play.

I've been playing the sims 4 since 2018 (which i know isn't the longer but I'm a younger simmer lol) and in all the time I've been playing this game, I don't think I've ever had this many bugs. I'd have maybe one bug for a couple of days but even then it'd be some minor thing that didn't effect my enjoyment of the game. However, recently, I've found myself using EA's gameplay support forum excessively. I'm come here almost every time I open my game because I'm always having some sort of issue with my game.

My farmer and rancher sims crops disappear/turn invisible the second fall hits (and NO i don't mean an out of season crop dying, I mean my fully grown, in season fall and winter plants being invisible for the entire duration of the seasons) and while sure I can still use the gameplay mechanic, after a while (and many weeks) it's very visually frustrating to look at a large field of invisible plants that are still very much in season. Mind you visual issues like this have been bugged dating back to 4 years ago (though my specific issue  seemingly only dates back to 5 months ago which is still a long time but a lot shorter of a time frame than four years ago)

My sims can not getting married at wedding arches because it says that both engaged sims must be around (even if both of them are right in front of the arch), so I'm forced to do the manual engagement through the romance category which defeats the whole purpose of having wedding arches. With this issue also comes not being able to renew wedding vows because said archers are broken, This issue also seemingly dates back to a minimum of 5 months ago.

Another issue I, and a lot of other simmers have, is disappearing terrain paint, and this issue has been happening for YEARS. The only way for me to somewhat circumnavigate is to build whatever im building first, save, leave to manage worlds, go back to the lot, do the paint, save again, leave again, and then load back in. That is absurd, again this has been happening for YEARS.

Ever since EA introduced ads into the sims 4 (The opening screen ads and the splash ads) many people have found themselves not able to close or dismiss the ads, again another bug that has been around for a hot minute, that makes the game unplayable, that hasn't been fixed. Or what about the eyelid glitch that makes sims not able to close their eyes all the way?

Again, I understand no game will be 100% bug free, but so many of the bugs have been around for months, sometimes even years, and they still aren't fixed, and it's truly ridiculous to see. It's incredibly frustrating to see SO many longstanding bugs be put under the tag "under investigation" when it honestly feel like nothing is being investigated. Or, at the very least, communicate with your community more. Even a vague "Hey guys, we hear your issues with the bugs and we're trying to fix them!" is more reassuring than radio silence or a moderator linking us to another forum for 8 months ago with a person having the same issue as you. If your game is so buggy it's putting people off and stopping you from attracting more people to it, maybe it's time to take a break from being a cash hungry corporation. Please, STOP PUTTING OUT NEW CONTENT AND FIX YOUR GAME. or at the very least shift your focus onto to fixing common bugs that make your game nearly unplayable. I love the sims, it is truly one of my favorite games of all time, but it's disappointing and frustrating to see 6 new expansion packs, 3 new game packs, 2 new stuff packs, and 12 new kits come out in one year while me and hundreds of other simmers have been begging you to fix a bug that first showed up in your game 2 years ago.

So, EA, sims dev team, PLEASE FIX YOUR GAMES.

TLDR: This game has so many bugs its nearly unplayable (or at the very least VERY frustrating to play) but ea keeps putting out new content instead of fixing month(s)/year(s) old issues and it's getting irritating.

    You are right!

I have seen the list of bug reports compiled by volunteers and it seems that almost every pack currently has a bug. It doesn't seem like a serious company to leave this alone and develop new packs, and I can understand why people think EA lacks love and responsibility for their games.

We are not angry at EA because we are against their work. It is because we love their work and are fans of EA. It is because we love them that we are saddened that they continue to disappoint us.

We hope EA does not disappoint us any more. Otherwise, we will truly hate this work. Please let us continue to be fans of this work. Thanks for starting this thread to raise this issue. We really appreciate it and sincerely hope that our voices will be heard by EA.

  • Started a new business with Get To Work, I didn't get B&H.  I am so trying to make it function, however I found that even the sunspot awning doesn't stop the weather either.  There is snow on the sunspot awning and snow on everything under it!!!  I moved the counters and register to underground/basement.  I love the outdoors but can't operate my business the way I want to!  Outdoors!

I also watched many things go awry quite suddenly on the new retail lot, I literally just created; now wonder if it's got everything to do with the fact that I created a retail business because I have never seen these issues until after I did!!!!   I came here, searched the bug reports and ended up reading everything under certain categories to locate the issues.  Then ended up -- upvoting 4 or 5 bugs that have already been reported!   This was just last night!!!!  Mind you I have not built a retail business of any kind in a long time.

Thank you for creathing this thread. I personally began playing the Sims  in March of 2000!!!!  I've seen many bugs, I've also seen how fast they can fix the bugs - if they want too!

With the Rene' project still in the making, they are going to have some competition by the end of this month, especially from those who can actually afford to replace their systems to play Inzoi which releases in 9 days, which honestly........ now....... i'm looking into it.  I am grateful that I did listen to myself and stop paying for broken packs, saved myself a whole lot of money that I can use now to upgrade my tower for Inzoi, maybe. Still looking into a lot of things before making a final decision.

Bottom line is this, it's their game and they can do what they want.  Likewise, I don't have to play their game!

somebody is doing something.... I just got New Kid on the Block badge: Logged into EA Forums 1 time. You’ll get the hang of this place in no time. 2 hrs ago

I 1000% agree! It's getting harder and harder to be happy and excited about new content when I know all it's going to bring are bugs. They spew out 3/4 expansion packs a year (and a poop ton of game packs... and stuff packs... and kits) without going through and taking time on them. New sims 4 is missing the love EA use to put into their game.

It's so incredibly frustrating and it's even more frustrating that EA/Sims 4 dev team does not seem to care. People pay for this game, and of course no game is gonna be 100% perfect but to let it get this bad is absurd, I've seen dev teams on small indie games fix bugs faster and better than EA does. When inzoi and paralives come, sims is really gonna have to lock in because these competitors seem like they care a lot more about their game than EA does.

I was thinking exactly the same thing as you!

I'm glad they are putting out new content, but I can't always be honestly happy about the new packs because the thought that there will be another new bug anyway makes me more depressed than happy about it.

I feel like you have been rushing to get new packs out, so I would like you to slow down the development of new packs and prioritize fixing bugs.

  • I got MWS about 6 months ago as I was told it was fixed, it's not.  It came out In Feb 2022.  3 years ago, not fixed yet.

I do not have  : Horse Ranch  released July 2023,  For Rent released  December 2023,  Lovestruck released July 2024,
Life and Death  released  October 2024, Business & Hobbies March 2025

What I do have, is all the issues those packs added to my game - all for free!!!!!!!

I guess I can't say I never got anything free from 'em!

Exactly! It's not like I'm gonna never want new content, but the fact that they're churning out so much new content while ignoring the old content (namely bugs) is very frustrating! I want to be able to enjoy my current game! I just wish they'd put new content on the back burner for a bit.

It honestly felt like they were doing that for a while too, early this year and late last year we were getting bug fixes once or twice a month but since then not many game updates have been out!

  • I support them putting new paid content on a lower priority to fix existing content instead.

Not just bug fixing but also working on improving cross compatibility between packs, quality of life updates and maybe streamlining some things.

Like maybe only release an occasional stuff pack for a while and no game pack or expansion. There are still some things that I feel would work best as base game updates too like elevators, spiral staircases and cars.

  • The sims 4 is my absolute favorite game but i am SO frustrated with the state of the game right now. My entire game is so buggy and i have been dealing with these bugs for months and it's making the game very frustrating to play.
