Lifestyles from Snowy Escape All Locked

I purchased and installed "Snowy Escape" yesterday, and I was excited to read about the "lifestyles". I want this in my game!  But, every lifestyle in the simology panel for every sim I've played since yesterday has all 16 lifestyles "ghosted out" with the LOCKED note on them. One sim, however, had a message coming up saying that he'd reached the daily Lifestyle Cap, and yet none of his "lifestyle" icons show anything in progress.

The only mod I have in my game is a recent version of MCCC. Are there any known conflicts with this? I use the mod to handle my long aging and 9-month pregnancies, so I really can't give it up.

I've browsed and found a few old "bugs" from when the pack was first released, but nothing recent. I also went into Gameplay Options and "Lifestyles" is checked. This sounds like such a fun aspect of the game, and it fits in perfectly with my play style, so I'm hoping I can figure out a way to activate the system.

Is there something I'm missing? Do I just not understand how this is supposed to work? Shouldn't I be seeing some signs of a lifestyle in progress after several sim days of play?

Thank you for any info!

I've been playing for 2 days -- rotating various households -- so in "sim days" I've played probably a total of 12 days split between various families. Several times I've had that message come up saying a sim has reached the maximum lifestyle cap for the day, but everything is simply ghosted out and nothing anywhere shows that anything is unlocked or in progress. I don't really know how this system is supposed to work or how long it should take for a "lifestyle" to develop -- so I don't know if the problem is me or the game! LOL

But no, nothing in any sims "simology panel" shows anything being unlocked. Nothing shows "hidden". Nothing shows "in progress". Everything just shows "locked". And again, I've checked and "Lifestyles" is clicked in my gameplay options. I really think this would be a fun feature. My game play is really all about the ways in which my sims grow and change and choose how to live their lives. If there's something else I need to do, I'd like to do it!  :)

  • The cap is just a message that you can't do more towards any milestones at that day. You'll get that whether you're progressing on something or not. Maybe your Sims just hasn't progress a certain livestyle enough to be considered in progress. It takes a while playing the same style for the to advance.

There could be a problem that the progress reset when switching families but I haven't seen any reports to that degree.

I would just play on for awhile and see if anything comes up.

Earlier while playing I browsed through my MCCC mod and found where I could "add" a lifestyle to a sim. So I picked one, and it now shows up in the Simology panel as "in process".  I think I was a little confused by the interface. What I was seeing was an entire panel of "locked" lifestyles. Now, in this sim's panel, it only shows the one lifestyle I added (people person) plus empty spaces for 2 more. So maybe for now I'll just manually add lifestyles for my sims and see where the game takes it from there.  Thanks for your reply!

They show locked until you start progressing in them. IIRC, it doesn't start to progress right away.

The lifestyles will not remain with your sim if they do not live that lifestyle. So adding them through mccc is going to be pointless probably. For example, I have a sim who was athletic and joined a sports career. after a time he gained the energetic lifestyle. Then I decided I wanted him to be a writer, and next thing I know he gained the indoorsy lifestyle. It didn't take very long before I got a message that he was in danger or losing the energetic lifestyle and I think an outdoors lifestyle too. Because he was spending too much time inside sitting around. Another sim had the techy lifestyle and ended up losing it because I had him going out to clubs too much and he wasn't doing enough techy things and his job had nothing to do with tech stuff. Whatever lifestyle you want for your sim means they will need to live it or they will lose it. You can have multiple lifestyles but you have to keep your sim doing things to make them maintain them. They're not permanent things like traits are.
