No Faces / Bug Eyes on NPCs (No mods installed)

Product: The Sims 4
Platform: Windows
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.108.349.1020 DX9
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Stuff packs - all. Game packs - all apart from dine out & wedding stories. Expansion packs - all apart from growing together, horse ranch, for rent and lovestruck.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Launch the game as normal, look for NPCs
What happens when the bug occurs? Some NPCs have no faces, some NPCs have "bug" distorted eyes (I believe it is when they have default eyes from werewolf, alien, vampire etc)
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? I did, but removed them all to find the issue.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. My game updated itself with the latest patch.

I have attached two screenshots of this issue, the first of the no faces and the second of the "bug" distorted eyes.

  • Hi @littlelilacmoon

Did you buy the packs on EA app or Steam ?

Have any of you tried a game repair yet ?

    For EA app

    1. Close the game
    2. Click on the three dots in the upper right corner of the game in your library
    3. Choose Repair game

    For Steam:

    1. Close the game
    2. Right Click on the game in your library
    3. Choose Properties
    4. Choose tab Installed Files
    5. Press Verify Integrity of Game Files
  • Thank you for the advice 🙂

I installed the game and the packs through the EA app; I have repaired the game but unfortunately, the issue is still ongoing.

Also, I have found that editing the NPCs in CAS changes them back to normal, but there are too many NPCs affected for this to be a feasible fix ☹️

If you have any further advice on how this can be fixed, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    LLM 😃

  • @crinrict I used to have mods but I removed them.

I initially thought it was a broken mod issue so firstly, I did some batch fixes on S4S to stop CC being used for random/werewolf etc but as this didn't resolve it, I removed all mods; then I repaired the game as you suggested 🙂

Also to add - I repaired the game with no mods in and I haven't re-added any mods since I removed them.

    @littlelilacmoon

Would you be willing to share your save with me so I can check if I can duplicate it ?

If so, please zip your saves folder and upload it somewhere like dropbox, googledrive or OneDrive and PM me the link.

@littlelilacmoon Do you have to edit something in CAS or just take them to CAS

I can see your broken Sims but taking them to cas without editing fixes it right away for the faces. They eyes I need to fix and they still look odd.

Are any of these families important to you ? If not, I would just delete them from the game. That shouldn't take too much time. Fix the ones you want to keep.

Once you have done this, check if new ones are created (no mods).
