Re: is it possible to make an event last longer?

@itsgonbelit if it's possible to extend an event you'll see it in the top left hand corner of the screen on the timer/task list. As with active careers.

With prom in the HSY pack my Sims often get asked to attend the after party somewhere, I've found that happens with high friendships with other prom guests. You can use Social Bunny to max friendships if you have any difficulties and it helps with prom goals too. They stay out most of the night at the after party but it's not a goaled event.

The new Lovestruck pack added the option to extend dates in conversation too. That's handy when not all dating goals are completed. Also for the first time, it can be extended when the unplayed Sim asks your Sim if they would like to extend the date. (I don't know if that has been added to non Lovestruck dates though as I have the pack).

Hope this helps!

To add to what @simsplayer818 has said, for the dates started with the new Create a Date option from Lovestruck:  In addition to using the timer option and your date asking to extend a date, your active sim also has an option to ask their date to extend it.  So, if the date doesn't ask, as some will do, you can have your active sim ask.  I have yet to see a date say no so I'm pretty sure that you can make a date go on as long as what.  I've found that the dates vary widely on how often then ask to extend.  I have had dates that didn't ask at all and others that asked to extend several times including one date where the date kept asking and the date went over 24 hours, long after getting gold.  I let it go on at first because I wanted to see how long the date would go on, but I ended up ending the date via the timer after it went over 24 hours.

@simsplayer818 Just FYI, if you haven't had time to look yet.  Extend options on both the date and the active sims are not there on pre Lovestruck dates. I don't know about on the timer as I haven't checked that.  One thing I really like with the Lovestruck date is once you hit gold, you can end the date anytime and still get the reward photo.  With the pre Lovestruck dates, if you ended early even if you were at gold, you got nothing.  That hasn't changed either.

    Hope this helps.

  • @CGrant56 Thanks for confirming that. I've been looking at some other in game events to see if they added the option to extend those too but just as I thought, they didn't change the ones I've looked at.
I actually think it would be a useful tool if all in game events could be extended like the new Lovestruck dates. Because with issues out of our control sometimes we don't get to complete all the tasks. If you have interrupting Sims (which has been toned down but still continues) or if you have the dreaded unresponsive Sims, or tasks not checking off. You see that it's about to end and you're trying to get your Sim to move faster lol.
Dinner parties are a good example of an event that I'd really like to extend.

@CGrant56 With the pre-Lovestruck dates, if you end the date early you get the appropriate reward for the level your date reached. Charisma skill book 1 for a Bronze date, a Single Rose for a Silver date, and a VIP Bucket for a Gold date. I do this frequently, usually at the Gold level. (No mods, no custom content)

Thanks for correcting me as I did get that wrong. You are correct.  Tbh, I haven't had an old date finish with less than gold for such a long time, I had forgotten.  And I rarely end those dates early even when they achieve gold either.
