Undertaker Chance Cards and Hiring Mourners

In both branches of the Undertaker Career, sims are granted the opportunity to dive deep into lore with new chance cards at every level, some of which require others to have been first completed.

My mortician sim started her career at level six, due to her corresponding University degree. The basic choices for the chance cards work, but I'm not able to progress further with the unlockable options because (I think) she never completed the earlier ones.

The specific chance card involves an option to "move plots" which I cannot unlock, as an earlier option was not chosen for a lower level of the career. Is there any way to still unlock this option?

A second question in regards to funeral planning; hired mourner availability is always random. Is there a way to force certain sims to always appear as hirable mourners?

I just want to know how to solve the mystery that seems to be there. The chance cards keep popping up with no way to solve and you have to be a ghost for one of them, which my Sim is alive for that.  Also where did you get the University degree related to the Undertaker career? I've looked through them and none of them give benefits for it.

"The specific chance card involves an option to "move plots" which I cannot unlock, as an earlier option was not chosen for a lower level of the career. Is there any way to still unlock this option?" I think for this one it requires a certain level of fitness or thanatology. Make sure you have both and then you can move the plots.

For the ghost options, I just have my sims take a dip in the Baleful Bog before work; the corresponding moodlet lasts long enough to still be active when the chance card triggers. The thing is, though (and w/o spoilers) it only seems that the career-specific options actually lead to more lore. It's very confusing!

My mortician has a Distinguished Degree with Honors in Biology, and a Distinguished Degree of Fine Arts. I'm not certain which one gave her the head-start, but she was given the option to start off as a Mortician/Microbial Researcher whereas her husband (who never went to college) could only start out as a Grave Digger.

UPDATE:  Mortician is tied to Biology, and Funeral Director is tied to Psychology.  I tested the game with the mortician's assistant, giving her various prestige degrees until the appropriate career(s) showed up.

Her fitness skill is high, and her Thanatology skill is maxed, so I don't believe that's it. I've even tried specifically researching the House of Fallen Trees before she goes to work - to no avail. I appreciate the suggestion, though!
