Base game disappeared

Hi, 

I've been playing the sims 4 for a while now on my MacBook Pro M1 2020, and as I logged on yesterday I noticed most of my base game features have disappeared. I don't have Oasis Springs, Newcrest or Willow Creek anymore, along with missing base game floors and more.

My sims that lived in these worlds have also disappeared and I have no idea if there's a way to get it back, does anyone have any advice?

    Hi @Madisonleopard22  . Do you have any mods or CC installed? If so, please start by testing without the Mods folder and after deleting localthumbcache. Otherwise, though, this sounds at least partly like the kind of problem that OneDrive syncing can cause. Do you have OneDrive syncing your folders?

    @luthienrising Hi, thank you for getting back to me! I did used to have some CC downloaded but have deleted it all a while ago so I don't think it would be that. As for the onedrive syncing, I'm not the greatest with tech so I'm not quite sure what you mean, but I think my documents (including sims) tend to be synced to iCloud if that helps with anything?

    @Madisonleopard22 Okay, glad we ruled out mods! iCloud syncing isn't usually as problematic as One Drive, so let's just check a couple of other things first.

    First, let's look for your saves. Do you have a Saves folder in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4? Can you upload a screenshot of what's in it, including the file extensions?

    Second, have you done a game repair? That would happen in Origin or the EA App. (Most Mac players are still on the EA App.)

    @luthienrising I do have a saves file! One of the images I've uploaded is of the general Sims 4 file I have, and the other is my saves file. There are quite a few items in the saves file so I've only uploaded a screenshot of the first section but I'm more than happy to upload the rest if that would be useful.

    I haven't done a game repair, I use the origin app and have just gone in and seen where to find the repair option, but just to double check before I do it, will it delete anything from my game like sims or houses etc or is it purely just to check if there's anything wrong?

    Moved your thread to the Mac tech forum. Could you please copy/paste here the contents of the most recent lastCrash file in that Sims 4 folder. If you sort by list and date modified in Finder it will be easier to find the most recent.

    Where is your base game installed? The exact file path please but you can replace your Mac user account name. Is there also a Sims 4 Packs folder in the same location?

    A game repair doesn't remove any user data files in the Sims 4 folder.

    if it is of any use to you, I noticed I have several "lastException" files from the past week which is the time when my base game went missing, they seem to be longer documents but thought i'd let you know in case it can help!

    As for where my base game is installed - where would I find that? I downloaded the sims on origin but I'm not sure where to find the exact file path and any other sims 4 packs in the same location.

    And thank you for letting me know about game repair, I will give that a go!

    I'm not sure if this is of any use to you, but I noticed quite a few "lastExceptions" files from the past week which is the time I noticed my base game was missing, I'm not sure if these have any relation but thought I'd let you know in case it could help!

    as for where my base game is downloaded, where would I find that? I downloaded the sims on origin but am not sure where to find the exact file path.

    By default the game is installed in Macintosh HD > Users > [your user account] > Applications. Have a look in that folder. You can also check in Origin > Installs & Saves > Game library location for where Origin will be looking on your Mac for the game to launch.

    Can you remember doing anything on your before this suddenly happened? Did you update anything, install/uninstall anything, move stuff around?

    Hopefully the repair that Luth suggested will fix it.
