  • I am having the same issue.

    Tried scrapping the EA App and re-downloading, no luck.

    Then I tried repairing, several times, no luck.

    Went to Manage-> Add Ons ->Download no luck.

    Going to try rebooting the computer again.

    Anybody have anything else to try?

    The OP in this thread is having problems launching their game, is that your problem or is your problem a download issue?
  • @Bluebellflora Hey! I’ve been having the same problems as OP and I just followed these instructions but still unable to open the game. I’m on the EA app and when I try to launch the game it says failed to launch due to a problem on their end. No new sims folder repopulated in electronic arts either

    You know what I think following all of those options from the instructions you had attached. This didn’t seem to work but all of a sudden a repair button also popped up in the app. I clicked that and tried to launch again and it opened!!

    Ive been struggling since the switch and this may have solved my issue completely so thank you SO much.

    I will update again if moving my files back slowly works.
    THANKS!!

  • @Bluebellflora Hi! I am going in circles and have been working on this issue for weeks and I don't know what else to do. I was using Origin on my Mac for a long time to play Sims and I did play with mods/cc, however, since the switch to EA app, i have not been able to play Sims at all! I use an external hard drive to play.

    My problem right now is that the game will not launch. It says everything is downloaded and ready, I press play, and the game just bounces in the dock for a few seconds before returning to the EA app. No messages or errors pop up.

    BUT- Initially- I did have an issue with downloading any of my add-ons. It took me several weeks to find the solution to this problem, and it turns out it was because I had some Origin things still floating around in the background-- once cleaning this up, I have been able to successfully download all of my packs, stuff, kits, etc. Everything is downloaded but now it will not launch.

    I have removed all of my mods, CC, even all of my saves. I renamed my Sims 4 folder to begin with a new clean game, I have repaired the game multiple times (like too many to count) both manually by following (I think yours?) instructions, as well as repairing through the EA App. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game multiple times, I have restarted my computer and EA app multiple times, I have quit the EABackgroundService thingy on the Activity Monitor, I have done truly everything I can think of. Please, please help me. I don't know what else to do at this point except buy a new laptop!! Thank you!!!

    The same amount of progress! It acts like it is going to launch because the Sims 4 icon goes to the dock and bounces, but then it just disappears and returns to the EA App. No window ever appears for the Sims, just the icon going to the dock.

    Ok. In System Settings > Privacy & Security what permissions are enabled for the game in Files & Folders and Full Disk Access?

    Is your game installed on an external drive? All those Touchup apps indicate it is. Is the toggle enabled for all of those? You seem to have an erroneous Sims 4 app, the one with no game thumbnail, what happens if you disable the toggle then try to launch the game?

    @Bluebellflora

    Yes! It is on an external hard drive, sorry- I thought I mentioned that! Should I turn all the toggles on for the Touch Ups? And then toggle off the Sims 4 with no thumb nail?

    @Bluebellflora

    Hi there! I tried to toggle off the Sims 4 with no thumbnail but unfortunately the game did the same thing- acted as if it would load, the icon bounced in the dock, and it returned to the EA main menu. ☹️

    ☹️ do you have enough space to install just the base game on your internal drive to test? Change the download location in EA App to your Applications folder, re-download the base game and see if it launches.
