- @Bluebellflora sorry for the late reply. I’m just so confused how to i get my mods to work again after moving my sims 4 file from documents to desktop
See here for a more detailed explanation - https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-Mac/READ-FIRST-Sims-4-Mac-Help-Guides-and-Troubleshooting/m-p/4612394#M163
is my old data for sims 4, in documents, electronic arts, sims4. If so, do i move all the files that show up in there onto the “new” sims 4 file that is in desktop.

Please read the link I provided above. It fully explains the Sims 4 folder setup and what you need to do. - @54322360983 but i’m still a little confused
- @Bluebellflora i think i got it, but when i get my old files do i replace the new ones in the new sims 4 folder on the desktop
Move your Sims 4 folder out onto your desktop, or rename it, and let the game generate a new one... You can find the folder in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4. If your game then works ok the problem was in your user data... Now you have a nice, new, clean user data folder you can try adding your old data back into the game gradually, testing after each addition. For example, copy your saves from your old The Sims 4 folder into the new one. If your game once again doesn't perform properly then you know that there is a problem somewhere in your saves, one or more may be corrupted.
That is quoted directly from step 1 in the link. Why do you have a new Sims 4 folder on the desktop? Maybe reading through several times will help.
i am referring to the one i moved previously to the desktop. I have moved all the files onto the “new clean” one but when i started up the game my mods still didn’t appear on the start up screen and didn’t work.

Your files need to be in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4. Nothing will load from the Desktop. - KatTheGamer830517 days agoRising Newcomer
I just had this same exact problem. Go to your File Explorer > Documents > The Sims 4 > Mods and that "Mods" folder should be empty if you moved them to your desktop. Move all of your Sims mods back into that "Mods" folder in Documents > The Sims 4. Hope this helps :)
Your file path is wrong and there is no such thing as "File Explorer" on a Mac. The Mods folder should be in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4. If your Sims 4 folder is directly in Documents the game will not load user data from it and instead simply create a new Sims 4 folder in the Electronic Arts folder.
