Sims 4 Not functioning on mac

i recently downloaded mods on my macbook, i put the mod files into the mods folder and checked the right boxes in settings but once my game updated any files i added or deleted didn’t change what was showing in my game, so if i added anything new it never registered and essentially didn’t work and the same if i tried to remove anything. 

i have since cleared the mods folder and tried to go back to my game as normal but now it won’t even start up, tried looking for my electronic arts folder and all i can see is the sims icon and nothing else, no mods folder etc. 

I have also tried deleting and re-installing both the sims game and the ea app, nothing works at all no folder anywhere,

No one drive enabled, and whilst trying to figure out mods before,  i disabled icloud storage too, so it should be on my laptop somewhere,

can someone help this is the most annoying thing ever not even an exaggeration lol
