Crashing.

My game has mods, get-to-work, cats & dogs, and seasons. I've recently tried to open the game and after showing the "sims 4" logo screen it went white and crashed. My game has been crashing for a while and I've repaired it and tried to update my driver but i have the best driver already installed.

  • Zovinluv  Thanks for the dxdiag, which shows that your computer is almost completely out of space.  You apparently have only about 100 MB free, which isn't even enough for Windows itself to maneuver properly.  As a result, the page file, which is where the processor stores data that doesn't fit in RAM, is somewhat small and almost completely used.  Between that and your 4 GB installed memory, there isn't enough memory to run Sims 4 and everything else open on your computer, and the game appears to be running out of memory and crashing.

Point is, please clear as much space as you can on your internal drive.  I realize that's not easy with a drive as small as yours, but find whatever you can to delete, for example anything in the Downloads folder you've already extracted or installed.  And cut down your mods and cc collection to the minimum you really need.

Once you've done that, try again to play, and if you get another crash, please post a new dxdiag.  You may need to manually increase the page file, but I wouldn't suggest doing that until you have sufficient free storage to absorb the loss.

thanks, sm for replying! so far, I've cleared 3.52 GB is there any specific number you recommend?

  • Zovinluv  I would normally suggest at least 25 GB free, and more like 30 for someone who needs to increase the size of their page file.  But that may not be possible given the size of your system drive.  So do the best you can, let me know how far you get, and we'll go from there.

In theory, you could buy an external drive for storing pretty much everything that isn't Windows and critical drivers.  But I don't know that you'd want to invest more money in this computer given that you could find something significantly better for not that much money, especially (but not exclusively) if you're willing to buy a used laptop.  I'm not saying you can't play on this machine, only that it's worth starting to think about when you might upgrade.  I can help with that too if and when you're ready.
