Ongoing Crashing Issue

Hey,

So, I have been on and off trying to figure out what is causing the crash of my Sims 4 game. For some reason it has been crashing during play ever since the Back in Time update came out for the weekly event, but also since I bought the Streamer Kit. I don't know which one of these things caused it, if it is the problem; I've been seeing on here that people have been having problems ever since the event started, and unfortunately, I don't work for EA, so I don't know how to read crash reports which is really annoying.

Like I just had a crash just before getting on here. I had let the game play, it was on for like maybe 5 minutes or less while I went to go and get my tea; and I came back, and it crashed already. I hadn't done a single thing. I just let the Sim that was still there play and he was just on the computer. I have been taking out and replacing mods that I normally use, and I cannot seem to find the issue.

I'll attach the crash report (or try) just in case there's any employees on here that can assist me, as well as the system report that I've also read is supposedly helpful.

  • I am also having trouble with my Sims 4, It is always crashing, or every time I travel, it stays on the loading page.. I've already deleted mods (that I never added to my game) and also got rid of the "thumbtack" document and it is still crashing my sims ! I am not sure if it is because I added lots from the gallery but I need it fixed asap!!

  • AofRandD  Thanks for the dxdiag.  Please try switching the game to DirectX 11 mode.  Open the EA App, click Sims 4 > Manage > View properties, and add -dx11 to the command line box.

  • zeniapina12  Are you saying you deleted all mods, or removed the Mods folder (same thing); or are you saying you removed some mods?  If you haven't already, please try playing with no mods or custom content at all.

If that doesn't help, please try a new save, for comparison's sake, and don't add any lots from the Gallery or your own library.  If the new save has the same issue, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

It's been on my Command Line though😭

  • AofRandD  Your dxdiag clearly shows you're running Sims 4 in DirectX 9 mode, or at least you were when the most recent crashes were recorded.  If you've patched since you added the command, please make sure it's still present.  And if you're playing through Steam, you'd need to enter the command there; please see this guide for more information:

    DirectX 11 (DX11) for The Sims 4 - A Step-by-Step Guide | EA Forums - 11811172

You can also see which mode the game is using in the lower-left corner of the Main Menu, just after the version number.  It will list either DX9 or DX11.

  • Thank you for the link! Had to go into the properties for the shortcut and put it in there because apparently the command line for the EA doesn't do anything... Now I just have to hope that if I put my CC back in, it shouldn't revert back to that issue.

  • AofRandD  Right, if you're playing through Steam, then Steam's settings apply, not the EA App's.  Let me know if you need any more help.

Your custom content won't revert this setting, but of course it could cause other problems.
