"Origin is not installed and is required to play your game"

I'm not sure if this sent because of bad internet, so I'll do it again. I tried to install an expansion pack for the Sims 4 with a cd from a physical expansion pack from Walmart, but it's a couple of years old, and it says that it requires Origin to continue setup. I canceled the installation and took the disc out and decided to play the game as is, but it now says that I need to download Origin to continue. Origin doesn't exist anymore, so I'm not sure on what to do. I uninstalled the game entirely and then reinstalled it, but it's giving me the same error. What do I do?

  • SimsManiacIGuess  Are you trying to launch Sims 4 through the EA App library or through its desktop shortcut?  The Origin error is old and hasn't been replaced yet, but it's entirely possible that the underlying issue is the same: the game is trying to open and not detecting the launcher.

Point is, make sure the EA App is open and fully loaded, then launch Sims 4 from within your library.

If that doesn't work, clear the EA App's cache:

Uninstall the App, restart your computer, download a fresh copy of the installer, and run it as an admin: right-click the download and select "Run as administrator."  Then try to launch Sims 4 again.
