When does the beta start? You can join the beta right now. Just download the application from this link and login! Will I be able to switch back to Origin once I download the beta app? Origin will remain live, so you’ll be free to toggle between the apps to continue playing the games you love in either experience. Will my Origin games need to be re-downloaded on EA Desktop? Nope! Any games you've downloaded through Origin will be ready to launch through EA Desktop. What will happen to the purchases I make on the beta platform? All transactions (including a-la-carte games, subscriptions, MTX, and DLCs) on the platform are permanent, real transactions tied to your EA Account. Where can I find the purchases I made on EA Desktop? Purchases made through the beta are tied to your EA Account — they will appear on both Origin and EA Desktop. Not seeing all the games from Origin? Don’t fret. We’re adding titles to the beta all the time. So if your game isn’t here, it will be soon. Plus, any games missing from the beta are still available to play on Origin.
How do I play the Sims 4 offline with the EA app?
I have recently installed the EA app, as was recommended. Before with the Origin app I could choose the play offline, but now that is not possible anymore. My internet is currently down. I cannot open the Sims without opening the EA app, and the EA app does not work offline. Is there any way to solve this or to bypass the EA app?Known Issues - EA App
Welcome to the EA App! The EA app isn’t just a reskin or a bug fix — it’s a new gaming platform with new features as well as improvements to performance, function, and design. We're still hard at work shaping this experience for you. That means some features aren't working yet or may be missing. Below you'll find what we're still working on. Top issues & Workarounds Launching a game from a shortcut before launching the app isn't currently supported. Games can be launched from a shortcut, My Collection, or Recently Played list after the application is started and logged-in. Restart Application menu item does not restart the EA background service. If you encounter an error and need to fully restart, the EA background service can be exited from the Windows Task Manager. Some players are reporting issues with downloading/installing games. We've posted some steps here that may help with that. in-game overlay
Unable to get the in-game overlay in the EA desktop app to work. It is enabled in the settings. In-game overlay works just fine on my Origin software (on the same PC). I've tried entering Task Manager and ending any potential programs that could be interfering (Steam, NVidia GeForce Experience, Epic) - and still no luck. This is particularly bothersome for me as I'm trying to play It Takes Two with a friend, but when I click ' Invite Players ' - nothing happens. Nor will Shift-F1 bring up the in-game overlay as it would in Origin. Any one have any suggestions? Any work arounds so I can use this particular game as intended? Thanks!
How to stop EA Desktop background service from running most of the time.
So as you all know EA had the greatest idea of replacing origin with EA Desktop and forcing us to use it. Some of us sneaky peekers have spotted a thing called EABackgroundService running when we start our computers without even opening the ea app and staying on even after we close the ea app. Fix below. How to stop it starting with our computers. In the app click the three lines in the top left corner Click settings. In the application part of settings. Disable Application updates, Open the ea app automatically on startup, Notifications and In-Game overlay. In the download part of settings. Disable update games automatically and enable background downloads. Once doing this exit the app fully. Press the windows key and type services and open services then find EABackgroundService Right click and go to properties of the EABackgroundService And set startup type to manual. Now to the part to stop the EABackgroundService from running after closing the ea app. Create a text file on your desktop and name it EADestroyer.bat now make sure you have file name extensions setting on. In that file add this. ECHO OFF ECHO Starting EA start /b /wait "" EADesktop.exe net stop EABackgroundService Open file explorer and navigate to where you installed the app. For me it's C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop In that folder drag and drop the bat file you created in there. On that bat right click and create shortcut now it will say it will have to put it on your desktop don't worry that's what we want. Right click the shortcut and press properties and change run from normal to minimised. If you want you can change the icon and the name of the shortcut. Make sure to remove the original ea app shortcut off your desktop. When ever you want to open the ea app use this shortcut that leads to the bat file. One issue is the bat file stays open until you close the ea app and it stops the background service there is no way around this. There you go you can game peacefully with you knowing ea can't spy on you. Perhaps this will get ea to fix this so called 'bug'
