Known Issues - EA App
Welcome to the EA App! The EA app isn’t just a reskin or a bug fix — it’s a new gaming platform with new features as well as improvements to performance, function, and design. We're still hard at work shaping this experience for you. That means some features aren't working yet or may be missing. Below you'll find what we're still working on. Top issues & Workarounds Launching a game from a shortcut before launching the app isn't currently supported. Games can be launched from a shortcut, My Collection, or Recently Played list after the application is started and logged-in. Restart Application menu item does not restart the EA background service. If you encounter an error and need to fully restart, the EA background service can be exited from the Windows Task Manager. Some players are reporting issues with downloading/installing games. We've posted some steps here that may help with that. Any games you've downloaded through Origin will be ready to launch through EA Desktop. What will happen to the purchases I make on the beta platform? All transactions (including a-la-carte games, subscriptions, MTX, and DLCs) on the platform are permanent, real transactions tied to your EA Account. Where can I find the purchases I made on EA Desktop? Purchases made through the beta are tied to your EA Account — they will appear on both Origin and EA Desktop. Not seeing all the games from Origin? Don’t fret. We’re adding titles to the beta all the time. So if your game isn’t here, it will be soon. Plus, any games missing from the beta are still available to play on Origin.
Ukrainian region
Ukrainian gamers asked for separation from Russia region for years on. We asked to add Ukrainian language to your app, add ability to choose any language in game, not just Russian, we asked to change payment currency and systems, as Ukraine is still going though Russin bank systems with RUBs! Yet, no changes were made. Now, when the all EA library was moved to new app it is a great opportunity to make so much asked changes! Therefore, we ask you to: ⁃ remove Russian rubles, which have never been in circulation in independent Ukraine, as well as Russian payment services such as YooMoney and QIWI ⁃ Add Ukrainian language to the official EA website, Origin and EA app ⁃ Allow players to change the language of the game to any of the languages available, regardless of the region, as it is now we cannot even play in English! Thousands of Ukrainian players are counting on your support!
Why am I getting forced to install EA App?
every time i open origin it softlocks me into a window that suggests to install ea app. now i thought okay its forcing me to install this must be a good reason but no. i log in with the right account, got my games, my mods work and then i find out ea app doesnt allow me to invite friends to my games? and i thought okay, ig i deinstall this garbage and go back to origin, but when i logged myself in it tries to force me again to install the ea app. what kind of idea is it to force the switch when u said just a while ago that origin will still be usable but no u force me to install the app that disallows me from playing w my friends. i`m absolutely fed up with this. (cm edit - removed language)How do I play the Sims 4 offline with the EA app?
I have recently installed the EA app, as was recommended. Before with the Origin app I could choose the play offline, but now that is not possible anymore. My internet is currently down. I cannot open the Sims without opening the EA app, and the EA app does not work offline. Is there any way to solve this or to bypass the EA app?
Xbox PC Gamepass Achievements - EA App achievements
Hi there! I made a post back in March 2021 (Ea Play games in the Xbox Gamepass (PC) should give players Xbox Achievements - Answer HQ) mentioning that a lot of Xbox PC Gamepass players wanted to win Achievements in the new EA Desktop App. It gained a lot of comments & upvotes but sadly nothing has been mentioned about it. I have been regularly checking the Trello board since then, & it has had a few technical updates, but nothing else. So please, the whole community is waiting for a simple answer on the subject regarding achievements in the EA App / PC Game Pass. We just wanna know if this will arrive or not, so just a "yes" or "no" question. Thanks & happy holidays for y'all, take care & keep up the good work!
Why Does EA Force Game Pass PC Members to use EA Desktop?
EA should really have the option to port EA Play with Game Pass to Origin as well as EA Desktop. It makes no sense that EA is forcing everyone to use an unstable, "Beta" version of a launcher when they already have a pre-existing, much more stable, and reliable launcher. I get that they want it for testing, but leave that to the people who volunteer to contribute their feedback on their own accord rather than forcing everyone to do so. EA Desktop is extremely buggy and severely affects my games. First off, EA Desktop does not create Desktop Shortcuts despite mentioning it when you launch a game from the app. So you will have to literally go into your programs folder to create a shortcut for every single one of your games you install through EAD, that is if there is even a shortcut for the game in the file location (*coughFallenOrdercough*). You also have to reinstall the game -Which you also can't do through EAD by the way, only through Windows Program Manager- if you want to change the language of the game if it doesn't have the option to do so in-game, which is part of the removal of game properties and advanced launch options that I found very useful in Origin. On top of that, I've been experiencing network issues and severe performance drops ever since I started playing through EA Desktop. Trying to launch PvZ: Garden Warfare takes forever to launch (like 5 minutes later at least). And once I exit the game, I have to restart my PC or relog back into my user in order to launch the game again because it will not launch again after you've quit the game once. Star Wars BF2 has been experiencing network connectivity issues and mouse/UI bugs ever since I started playing it through EAD. Trying to connect to the BF2 servers with the "Connect" button is a trial and error process, and I have to disabled Discord in-game Overlay in order for the mouse and UI to function properly. I also experience severe FPS loss for every game I have installed through EA when that never happened through Origin. And no, it's not any issues with my system because I run EA Desktop with my games across three PCs that I own, and the problems are consistent for every single one. Really, it's upsetting that we can't port our Membership to Origin, or at least have Origin detect that we have a Game Pass account linked to EA. Why is this?
Update on EA Play: Coming to Xbox Game Pass for PC in 2021

"When we originally set out to write this blog post, which would announce the availability of EA Play on PC with Xbox Game Pass, it looked a little bit different. Unfortunately, what had been a celebratory post is now one asking for a little more patience: We made the decision to delay until 2021 the release of EA Play on PC as part of the Xbox Game Pass for PC and Ultimate memberships. We established this partnership with Electronic Arts because they are as passionate as we are about helping people and communities discover great games, and we knew we could provide a great experience for members by working together. In order to deliver on that, we need more time to provide the Xbox Game Pass experience. We’ll have more to share early next year; as always, we appreciate your support as we work to deliver this experience for our Xbox Game Pass members. I'm still using Origin as it still works for me. I've heard so many bad things about players being unable to play their legally purchased games on the new EA app. So much in fact that I don't want to change to the new app. I will keep using Origin until it is no longer usable. I don't get it why a perfectly working software must be replaced with a broken mess that locks you out of your games.Why doesn't EA Desktop remember my username or password?
When launching EA Desktop, under "Sign in with your EA Account", there is a "Phone or Email" and "Password" box, and a checkbox that says "Keep me signed in". Should this keep my user and pass from the last time I signed in? I find myself having to type my email/password into this screen every few days. No one else uses my PC, and I'm not logging out of anything (other than rebooting). Also the email and password boxes do not have a right click option, which I'm used to doing so I can paste text from my password manager. I have found that CTRL+V still works though. Having it remember my user/pass would be ideal. Having it connect to my password manager (LastPass) like Edge/Chrome would be second best. Having it at least remember my username would be third best (or suggest an email when I start typing). Right click option would be the least helpful since there is a workaround (only slightly aggravating when I forget) Regards, Vince P.S. what the heck why can't I use the letters * those two letters + "MEMBER ME" and it kept wiping it out
How to disable the EA App launcher requirement for games
Is there a way to entire disable the EA App launcher? I'd love to be able to play my PAID FOR GAMES. The EA App launcher doesn't work, it will never work, just give up on it before you get even more angry people screaming at you. You'd think filing a support ticket would be all you need to do to fix it, but nope. Your staff can't even do that job and just close every ticket about this issue without replying to any of them.
