[BUG] Javelin splash silently exits and Apex won't launch since EAC→EAAC switch
Apex Legends has not launched a single time on my machine since the September 29 switch from EAC to EAAC.
When I click Play in Steam, the EA Javelin splash (EAAntiCheat.GameServiceLauncher.exe) shows "starting ea javelin anticheat" for a few seconds and just exits while the game never starts at all.
Additional observations / error details:
1. Every time the splash window disappears, the "eventvwr.msc" (Windows Event Viewer) logs this error from "EA Javelin Anticheat":
- ExitType: 0x6DDDE3D53317900F (0x815E4FB258B85009)
- Before an anticheat update near 09-30, the same symptom logged as "ExitType: 0xC102E1B1166EFBC9 (0xAF7CD40A3C7542BE)"
2. EAAntiCheat.Installer.exe exits normally both with "--update" and "--update-check" args. The EAAntiCheat.GameService.exe started by the service, however, always exits with code 0xffff900f (before the update it was 0xfffffbc9).
3. As I have observed no "r5apex_dx12.exe" instance was even started by the launcher.
4. I downloaded another free game that uses EA Javelin ("skate."), and it launches and plays without any problem — so this looks specific to Apex's Javelin integration, not Javelin in general.
5. Other games with anticheat work fine:
- Games using EasyAntiCheat, AntiCheatExpert and BattleEye all run without issue.
- I've also downloaded another free game that uses EA Javelin ("skate.") and it launches and plays without any problem — so this looks specific to Apex's Javelin release, not Javelin in general.
Tried workouts: (sadly none changed the outcome)
- Multiple reboots tries
- Verified game file integrity
- Moved the game to a different drive
- "sfc /scannow"
- Tried different ISPs
- Toggled Memory Integrity (HVCI/VBS) option in Windows Security Center
- Uninstalled Antivirus
- Uninstalled Radmin VPN & Proxifier
- Uninstalled and manually reinstalled Javelin via EAAntiCheat.Installer.exe using both GUI and `"C:\Program Files\EA\AC\EAAntiCheat.Installer.exe" --noui --uninstall`
- Uninstalled Javelin and start apex to let the launcher reinstall it automatically

I was wondering what actually causes "GameService" to stop itself about three seconds after the driver loads successfully, and what do 0xffff900f and 0xfffffbc9 mean? And is there any diagnostic mode or log flag we can enable on the Javelin service so it at least tell legit players rejection reasons/trace ids instead of just exit silently?
For players who are genuinely cheating, bans can be issued after a randomized delay. Hard-blocking with no warning doesn't help either side — it doesn't keep cheaters from learning what tripped the detection and adapting, and it also locked legitimate players out frustratingly.
I'd really appreciate this getting looked at by someone on the anti-cheat side rather than being closed with a reinstall/clean-boot template, since the game has been completely unplayable since the switch.🥺
