Merged My GF’s and My Account together. She lost all her years of progress!

I didn’t accept or get any warning about cross progression. I just didn’t log in for awhile and then next thing I know my girl friend loses her account, all her data, all her heirlooms, all the battle pass reactive skins and are merged into mine. All her stats are gone and everything she paid for on her own.

  • Hey @TheGoshen,

Sorry for the concern this has caused. Were both of you playing on platforms linked to the same EA account?

That sounds like it may fit the situation described here. Progress is stored on the EA account level, not on individual platforms like PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, etc.

If the cosmetics were otherwise combined and her stats were lost, that sounds as though your platform was the higher level. Stats are not merged when an account goes through Cross Progression, but are taken from the primary (highest level) connected account.

Please see the link above for more info on how to proceed here, or the blogpost below for the original announcement and further details about how stats and cosmetics were addressed.

  • To answer the first question yes both accounts were linked via EA initially but then she got her own ea and Xbox subscription separately. I was trying to separate her account in the past but based on the description of unlinking which said apex accounts would lose a lot of data and purchased items I decided against it. Fast forward a couple of years dealing with the unlinking dilemma all of a sudden cross progression is implemented which unintentionally merged 2 unrelated accounts with no way to separate individual accounts. I’ve contacted support requesting they transfer her data and Atleast her skins, heirlooms, and reactive skins (which no longer can be earned through normal gameplay) to a new account of her choosing but it seems EA support team just sends me copy and paste articles relating to cross progression and then they end my support ticket and label it resolved. This forum is practically a last resort as I’ve opened several tickets at this point.

is there a way to either unlink and unmerge her data back to how it originally was or alternatively transfer her items to a new account? Who can I contact about this issue?

    Hey @TheGoshen,

While I understand the two accounts were unrelated in your mind, being linked to the same EA account made them very much related as far as our system was concerned.

As your progress is saved at the EA account level, there is not a way to move or divide it amongst individual platforms linked to the account. All that content would remain on the EA account where it was originally earned even if an individual platform were to be unlinked and removed.

The same issue you mentioned when looking at unlinking the account previously would still apply at this point I'm afraid, though now with the additional couple years of shared progress here.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, as there won't be any way to split the accounts and progress. Whoever moves their platform to a different EA account would lose access to the progress on this one.

  • Great so now two seperate Xbox accounts are merged because they were linked via ea account which would’ve been fine except there was no option to prevent the merging. Just randomly implemented without my input and now to find there is no way to revert the changes. It’s one thing to have the accounts linked it’s another to merge them and wipe data from one account over another.  Now she has to restart her account and leave behind all of her stats and exclusive items she paid for because of a change implemented without anyone’s consent. Just great.

Sorry @TheGoshen, this would be one of the reasons we do not allow or support account sharing. Each person should only have access to an EA account under their own name to help avoid situations like this one.
