After weeks of being unable to play Apex ever since the September Mid Season Patch, I finally got my Apex to work (the fix that worked for me is Solution 2 described below) so I am just compiling all the relevant information I've seen in the past weeks following threads in the hopes it helps some other people.
1. Do a clean boot, like for real (Tutorial)
For most people, following this will fix Apex. There have been too many threads and comments I've seen where people go "I didn't know my network analyzer, work timer, anti-virus, RGB, video player, scanning tool would flag EAC!". EAC doesn't only flag programs like reWASD, DS4Windows, AutoHotKey, but many more even if they don't seem related. Make sure to turn off or at best completely remove your anti-virus (especially Dr Web) as well, you can always reinstall it once you made sure it isn't the issue. If you do a proper clean boot to turn off every program and it still doesn't work for you, then at least you have a valid issue on your hands that might be worth looking into by the developers, follow the other steps below maybe they'll help.
2. Update your Windows or clean install, older versions are no longer supported
Make sure you're running on the latest Windows Version, as of writing this 22H2 for Windows 10.
Apparently older Windows versions like 1809 are no longer supported by Apex.
Example 1, Example 2 and also myself can vouch for it, since this is also the fix that worked for me, the latest update didn't even show me any error codes and I didn't even hear any audio on startup.
Personally I needed to do a clean installation to make sure my Windows is on the newest version.
I doubt you most of you need to a clean installation though as long as you can get your Windows to the latest version.
When doing a clean-installation remember to not install any anti-viruses since that seems to cause some issues.
Just know that it isn't a definitive fix, there are plenty of users who have the latest Windows Update but still can't play Apex due to not properly doing a clean boot or other issues: Example 1, Example 2.
3. Uninstall NVIDIA Geforce Experience
Some users reported uninstalling this software helped them:
4. Install AMD Adrenaline Software
Install the AMD Adrenaline Software, if you already have it installed then reinstall it then apply the factory settings to the drivers.
If you have any AMD components, then it might be worth a shot. Comments can be found here:

https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Game-Crashes-on-Loading-Startup-screen/m-p/14060023/highlight/true#M206607There are some extra steps if you're on Windows 11:
https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/When-I-start-apex-it-appears-white-screen/m-p/14138263/highlight/true#M207213Also someone said making Apex run on their AMD GPU fixes it too:
https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/When-I-start-apex-it-appears-white-screen/m-p/14091231/highlight/true#M2071355. Try Apex on EA or Steam
If it doesn't work for you on Steam, then try installing Apex on EA. If you play it on EA then try installing Apex on Steam. It used to work, rather old solution though:
https://answers.ea.com/rss/message?board.id=apex-legends-technical-issues-en&message.id=2064006. Delete the EAC Folder
The idea is probably to delete all EAC files and then let Steam/EA reinstall EAC with a fresh version by validating the game. I'd presume delete the folder in C:\Program Files (x86) and then in the Apex folder, but here's the comment of the user who said it worked: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Game-Crashes-on-Loading-Startup-screen/m-p/14075882/highlight/true#M206726
7. Try DirectX12 or DirectX11
If you haven't tried it yet, it's worth a shot since it's just a few clicks to boot it up in DX11 or DX12. At least it worked for that one person.
8. Update Drivers, Update Bios, Verify Apex, Clear EA Cache, Reinstall Apex, Reinstall Steam/EA, Run as Administrator

Thanks for the excellent breakdown @Deyui, glad to hear you were able to get things sorted via Windows Update.
I'll link to this in the current solution post to make sure it stays visible for those that may drop by the thread later on, thanks again! - EA_Shepard12 months ago

@Deyui Excellent work! This is awesome!
I've been having the same issues as most people with APEX crashing after a few seconds of being in the menu. I've tried uninstalling on both EA, and Steam. I've tried repairing the game, I've tried verifying the integrity of game files on Steam, still no use. I am out of options. EA please do something. If anyone has anymore suggestions please shoot them my way. Thanks
Hello, I have recently changed my motherboard and my CPU :
Msi B650 Gaming Plus Wifi
Ryzen 7 9700XAsus Dual Series GeForce RTX 4070 OC Super (already had it before my PC upgrade and Apex was running just fine).
Now, the main difference with my previous setup is the OS. I went from Windows 10 to Windows 11 Pro N. I tried many things :
- Verified games files
- Installed older graphics drivers (whql drivers)
- Deleted the "This PC > User > Saved games > Respawn" folder
- Deactivated full screen optimisations
- Reinstalled the game
- Started the game with "start_protected_game.exe" as Administrator
I don't know what to do. If anyone around here has ever come across this problem, please let me know. This is really puzzling me.

You're not alone. I and many others on other forums are experiencing the same.
For me, this happens after every update and the latest is no different.
All I can say on the situation is update/repair/verify game files repeat.Others have suggested to launch from within Steam instead as there you at least get error messages popping up.
Right now I'm in the process of first repair after the initial update. This is my response to this post which is on the same thread.
As you will see, this issue has been coming on for quite some time now but no official response to the problem has been given.

Alright for those of you still struggling and unable to get Apex to run, you can try the following.
Please note that this is for EA App PC players who are unable to launch Apex.
You can view these threads if you'd like,
here
Or for brevity, do a fresh install of Apex on Steam. This will allow you to select the DX11 option on launch.
Yes it's a pain to have to re-download but so far, I've had zero issues.I currently have two installs of Apex on my machine. One from EA and the other from Steam.
Also linking to my old EA account was straight forward with no data loss.
Hope this helps some folks out. - 007Scourge8 months agoNew Novice
I have a problem connecting to the game and while playing it happens a lot Specifically, this malfunction occurred after the last update. I'm so tired of this
My Apex Legends is constantly crashing no matter what I try to do to fix it. I've followed many of the existing "guides" on how to fix this potential issue, and none of them have worked for me. My Apex Legends is a fresh, brand new install that I just downloaded last night. Every time I attempt to launch the game on Steam, it goes through the title screen, then gets to the black loading screen with the Apex logo in the bottom right, and then crashes with no log almost immediately after reaching that screen.
I have no idea what could be causing this. It's a fresh install, I verified game files, all my drivers and such on my PC are up to date, I've done all the weird convoluted steps to try and fix it, and none of it has worked. I'm at a genuine loss here. Anything helps.
The game has stopped running. I play through steam. Upon startup, the anti-cheat window opens, it loads, but after the download is finished, the game simply does not start, throwing me back to the apex page.
Since the error occurred, I've tried everything I could. It's too long to list. I have reinstalled the system about 8 times in various ways, and only recently I thought to look into the logs of the game and the anti-cheat.
I found this in the anti-cheat logs (attached screenshot) - Fatal error, game process handle: 0000000000000898, exit code: 3221226505.
In another post, I saw that some people solve this error by disabling the Wi-Fi adapter, but I simply don't have a built-in wi-Fi adapter, my computer is already connected via Ethernet.
Since the game stopped running, I have already gone through all the stages of despair and am now at the last one - acceptance. It was a matter of principle for me to solve these problems, but I'm tired. I don't care anymore, but I'm posting this post anyway. You never know if there will be a solution here.- 007Scourge8 months agoNew Novice@KarmaEridium The actual problem is that the game's servers are neglected and neglected to no avail.
- 007Scourge8 months agoNew Novice@0nly1ken0bi I did everything possible. I downloaded and ran it from Steam and Epic Games, and the problem still exists. I'm fed up with this game.
