Re: I unlinked my xbox account to EA to move my xbox progress to another EA account.

Hello @Repavo6,

when you unlink a platform account from your EA account, you will lose most of your progress and content from your Apex account - this is specifically pointed out in the article regarding unlinking platform accounts

You will have to connect them to your original accounts, if you want your progress back, for which you will need to contact EA Support as you cannot unlink accounts yourself within the next 6 months.

https://help.ea.com/en/help-home/

And no, what you were thinking of doing will not work, as any Apex account made past the 20th of October will not be merged (and you don't have your progress on this account now anyway, so there's nothing to merge).

You can read up on it here again:

  • Would this work if both accounts are older than than the said date, I have an older Xbox account with progress I want crossed over to my Steam account that I've been using for a few years, using the Steam account as the "Primary." What would be the best way to go about this?

    Hello @LamarImNotBlack,

as already said here, if your progress of the two platforms is on two different EA accounts, there's no way of merging them without significant loss to one of these Apex accounts.

  • @EA_Pythia Why is this case? I have an EA account made in 2010 because some game required me to make one and linked to my Xbox account and when I started playing Apex on Xbox it automatically used that one.

When I switched to pc in 2020 I wasn’t even aware I had the other EA account and at the time Apex devs were saying cross progression was “impossible”.

So now that cross progression is here me and everyone in a similar situation are just “out of luck”? “Sorry unlucky go next”? “It doesn’t work just because”? “We can’t merge two EA accounts because we don’t want to”?

    Why is this the case.

And isn’t the whole point of cross-progression merging two completely separate accounts? But for EA having two completely separate accounts is the problem? It doesn’t make sense even Fortnite can get this right.

Please elaborate clearly. Why are we not able to merge two EA accounts? Just let us update the primary emails and merge said account but they have to have been made & have purchases in the same region. Plenty of games and websites let you re-link/change to a different account/email at least 1 time.

And why am I not able to un-link my Xbox/PSN account from the mandatory EA account I needed to play the game and relink to my PC EA account without loosing anything especially if the two account haven’t been “merged” but are just linked?

    Please explain clearly. Thank you.

@iiiHatastudiii I am also quite disappointed with all this cross-progression, so many seasons and years to have a deficient and confusing system.

    @iiiHatastudiii,

it is possible to merge two EA accounts, however, this will delete progresses, etc. of one account. Merging two EA accounts basically means that the games themselves will be transferred, but only the primary EA account will keep its progresses and items as it's only possible to transfer the games themselves to create one account, and it's not possible to move progress from one EA account to another. This also applies to relinking platform accounts, as progress is specific to the EA account, not the platform account.

In itself, you're not supposed to have more than one EA account, as this is something many cheaters use to get around bans. While it's possible to accidentally make a second account, it's recommended to merge these as early as possible after noticing to prevent this loss of progress.

The point of cross progression is not to get progress accounts completely different accounts, but rather, across different platforms - this is the definition of cross progression. The platforms still have to be connected to the same account. This is not EA-specific, but a practice other gaming companies also have, such as Ubisoft.

I know this is a frustrating situation, but there is no way of merging your two Apex progresses from two accounts via cross progression, without first losing a lot of your progress on one of these.

  • Exactly it honestly feels intentional or at the very least lazy and disingenuous. We all love the game and just want what we paid for and earned but it seems like EA/Respawn certainly doesn’t love us but loves our money. Very frustrating indeed.

  • Thank you for explaining clearly. Now that I have a better comprehension of the “why” it’s clear to me that debating the semantics of what is and isn’t “cross progression” and “account merging” only serves to reinforce the idea and prove that EA/Respawn is deliberately choosing to over complicate this.

From the consumer perspective it truly makes no difference “how” it occurs we just want our stuff. I have no insight into the technical dealings that are required to make this a possibility however certain situations have already shown that it’s possible in some way. (Players loosing all items and recovering them)

”I know this is a frustrating situation (understatement) but there is no way of merging your two Apex progresses from two accounts via cross progression without first losing a lot of your progress on one of these”

Then as a workaround couldn’t “cross progression” for those that have two EA accounts simply be that EA takes note of the items on the console account, deletes the account and then simply unlocks all of the items that they previously owned on said console account on their PC account. Is it literally not that simple? Again I have no insight into the technical demands however if you can remove items that have been unlocked through bugs/glitches then it should be equally possible to unlock locked items from the backend.

However statements like this: (EA in response to players losing their items when unlinking and relinking their console account) “We will not return anything that can be unlocked through playing the game” inspire little confidence and allude to the business mentality of EA doing everything they can to get you to spend money and play the game except for what the actual people playing the game want.

My point is that there has to be at least more than one way to do this and EA shrugging their shoulders and going “oops sorry sucks to suck” is lazy, intentionally disingenuous, deceptive and morally bankrupt.

    But that’s life I guess. 👍

  • Thats not true. EA support won't help you. I had the same issue. When I heard about cross progression, I unlinked my Xbox account from its original EA account and linked it to my PC account hoping they would merge, but instead I lost all my progress. I reached out to customer support because as you mentioned, you can't unlink the account until 6 months after. However, customer support said they couldn't help me unlink the account before the 6 months. They just basically told me to wait the 6 months.

Is there a way to link my ea account back instead of taking 6 months to wait ?

@thewavy0n3x14 Some have had lucky EA advisors undo the timer. Others have had people say you have to wait 6 months. I think you just need to bother them enough

@iiiHatastudiii It just feels like a poor attempt at cross progression that they made because the community pressured them into it. Almost all big games have cross progression now. It’s just a PR stunt is the vibe I’m getting.
  • @EA_Pythia so i unlinked my xbox account from an old ea account and linked it to my current one that has my steam account and all my pc apex stuff on it. from what im reading is that i will need help to link it back to the original ea account that the xbox one was on. also if i link my steam account to the old ea account will i still get cross progression or am i out of luck...? what would be the steps going forward from here?

Go to EA Help, click Origin, and "I can't log in to my account". There you will have access to do a live chat! They were 100% more helpful than EA Help on email and will help you unlink your account. Although I have done this and relinked it back to my original account; I still have no progress..... I wish the best of luck to you though.

  • Why do I receive the below?

"Your accounts can’t be linked because your Xbox account ReXXXXXXXX9 already linked to your EA Account for ba*****@disabled.ea.com. An EA Account can only be linked to one Xbox account in its lifetime.

I have tried to contact help but receive nothing. How to I have an email that is @disabled.ea.com? Seems as if EA just loves causing issues. Why not purge the data that is connected to a non valid email?

    @wparker052489,

that e-mail means the xbox account is linked to an EA account of yours that has been inactive for so long that it's been disabled. If you contact EA Support (chat is the easiest, as e-mails can take a few days) they should be able to help you. If you e-mailed them, please wait a few days for an answer.
