Asia Festival had Korean teams, creators like Chicken-koon and a Korean Loba cosplayer Myboo. One more troubleshooting step came to mind. Had 30ms from home on ps5. Got a SteamDeck, took it to a Starbucks, and got 20ms at server selection. I don't know if changing providers or trying a coffee shop's wifi is an option for you. Makes me wish there was a bulletin board or database for sharing ping times by location/provider.
- hikigatarijames2 years agoNew ScoutUpdate: I might have cured the occasional in game ping time jumps from under 20ms to over 100ms by disabling IPv6 SPI (stateful packet inspection) and DoS protection on my home router/firewall. I now have both PS5 and Xbox series X and was seeing the same occasional streaks of games with in game ping time over 100ms on multiple Tokyo servers. Both consoles, same problem. As it turns out the problem might have been with the confusing mix of TCP and UDP ports Apex uses and my router occasionally getting confused. The router I am using right now is very simple. It doesn't have DMZ settings or port forwarding settings. It has only those two toggles for SPI and DoS. Users of fancier routers might have more options for special handling of Apex traffic. If you're still having problems it might be worth your while looking into your router settings and the ports Apex uses.
