Re: Unable to change airspeed during drop

@FillmoreLove

Thanks for following up!

When you have the chance can you post a DxDiag so we can take a look? You can find more details on how to pull one up over at the EA Help website. Once you have the text file please attach it to this thread.

    @FillmoreLove

    Thanks!

    I appreciate that. What happens if you start up your PC in a Clean Boot before you launch Apex Legends? If there's anything else running on the PC that could be interfering that may help to get around it.

    You can find more information on how to set up a Clean Boot check out the EA Help website. Let me know how that goes once you've had the chance to give it a try. Thanks!

    Thanks for following up! Sorry about the delayed reply on this.

    I'm really curious if there might be some combination of game settings that could be causing this to happen. If possible, can you try resetting the in-game settings to see if that makes any difference at all?

    /Kent

  • All in game settings reset to default, every category. Still the same problem. It seems like the game state goes into some impossible case where my avatar's pitch doesn't change, like they are in constant airbrakes mode or something.

    I don't expect it to matter but I will also try using a basic mouse.

    EDIT: I tried the basic optical mouse instead of gaming mouse and still the same

    Thanks for checking on that for me.

    Do you have another account you could use to test this? I'd like to see if the same thing happens on different accounts, or if it's specific to this one. If you're able to try logging into Apex Legends with a different account let me know if you run into the same problem.

    Thanks again,

    /Kent

  • I only have this PC and I play through Steam, not sure if/how to make and log in to a different account.

    If you have another Steam account you could use that to launch the game and try logging in. Since Apex Legends is free to play you wouldn't have to purchase anything to log in with a new account.

    /Kent

  • Made a new Steam account and a new EA account. Same problem.

    When I did the tutorial the first time I was unable to place the care package even when in a valid location, left click just clicked the hand thing but nothing actually happened. I redid the tutorial and this time it worked. Also there was a holo spray next to the robot guy the second time through but not the first time.

    @FillmoreLove

    I see, thank you!

    Sometimes the training is really flaky about where you can drop the care package. I've had to run halfway across the map to find a place where I can drop it. Also, the holosprays do pop up from time to time. I think it's because of the way the firing range set up. Technically it's still a multiplayer server, but you're in a solo instance. So you sometimes see phantom grenades or holosprays from someone else who's also in the firing range.

    In regards to the control issues, do you have any other input devices connected to your PC aside from your mouse and keyboard? Do you have a controller plugged in, for instance? If so, can you try disconnecting any other devices to test and see if that makes a difference?

    /Kent

  • I had a joystick which I had previously unplugged to no avail.

    So I unplugged my camera and headset and even the printer; so mouse and KB (new one) are the only USB plugged in. Still the same problem.

    I went ahead and did an uninstall/reinstall but same problem persists.

    I wish there was some way to jump over and over by myself to see if I can just brute force until I figure out what the cause is (i.e. mash buttons during each jump) but there is no such in the practice arena.

    It would probably be less frustrating if it had never worked, but it has worked in the past at least a couple of times so there must be a way.

    Might I get more response if this were moved to the bug forums instead of technical?

    Hey @FillmoreLove

    Thank you for following up!

    There is something else I'd like to test as well. What happens if you launch Apex Legends through a different Windows Admin user? If you need more information on how to create one check out the Microsoft Support website

    Let me know if you're still having the same issues if you launch the game from a different Windows user. Thanks again.

    /Kent

  • I am still having the same problem.

    I made a new user and gave it admin. Then I logged into new user (took several minutes to prep stuff) launched Steam and then the game. Game settings had clearly changed as it gave me intro movie.

    Same problem as JM.

  • Tried again after the new patch, still launch in a state where I cannot control pitch as JM.

    Wow, so I figured it out but I am confused as to why there is no documentation/it was never mentioned. Maybe it was somewhere in the original tutorial and I forgot and everyone else just took it for granted?

    It turns out you have to press and hold the "w" key. Or maybe its just me and everyone else has it set up so they don't need to?

    @FillmoreLove

    As far as I know it's always worked like that. The training when you first start up the game only puts you in the firing range, so it doesn't actually cover dropping in. I don't remember if it ever calls out that you have to keep moving forward in order to maintain speed now that I think about it. That's good feedback that I can pass along.

    /Kent

  • It should also be in the key mapper settings as I looked there many times.it should say something about jump control in addition  to move forward.

  • For the second time I have been with another JM who clearly didn't know this, I tried to tell but they didn't speak english.
