Aim penalties for players who jump or slides and shot.
The developers stated that they currently “don’t have any new aim penalties planned right now” when answering a question about aim penalties for players who constantly spam jumps.
They also added: “If they see it becoming a real issue in data or feedback, they’ll take a look.”
This is honestly surprising to me, because I have seen many players say they are tired of people constantly slide-jumping around. I feel the same way.
I’m not gonna lie — part of it is probably because it is an annoying way to die when someone wins a fight simply because they jumped, and you do not have enough skill to punish them for it and win the duel. But even if I was consistently beating those players, I still would not want this playstyle to be so poorly balanced, because in my opinion, it is not balanced properly.
How do I know that?
Go to the in-game training range. Pick any class and any weapon — it can even be a weapon with no attachments. Stand near a wall, aim at another wall roughly 15 meters away, start shooting, and immediately spam jumps while firing.
When you look at the bullet marks, you will see that the recoil is ridiculously close to what it looks like when you are not jumping at all — and I am not talking about the vertical spread caused by the weapon physically moving up and down because you are jumping.
Would you really have much trouble killing someone this way? To me, this feels almost unthinkable for the Battlefield style — unless I am remembering the series wrong and it has always been this arcade-style FPS, in which case feel free to correct me.
What also feels ridiculous is that a player can gain instant advantage over an opponent by pressing one of the hardest keys to miss on a keyboard.
I used to play another arcade shooter that currently has movement somewhat similar to Battlefield 6, and I left that game partly because of players constantly jumping around with shotguns.
I wanted Battlefield 6 to feel more grounded and closer to a war-like atmosphere — hopefully never IRL, obviously, but you know what I mean — but that feeling is PARTLY being ruined by constant slide-jumping players.
My suggestion would be to greatly increase weapon spread or heavily reduce accuracy while airborne, so this way of killing opponents is actually discouraged.
I would also apply the same idea to sliding, but less drastically, along with blocking uphill sliding — yes, that is currently possible, lol.
