How is he revivable?

I was viewing some streamer videos and one in particular stood out to me. SquidG is the streamer and he was charging the field and an F16 dropped a JDAM on a player. After the dust cleared the downed player was lying in the middle of the newly formed bomb crater looking dazed on his back. SquidG revived him in the crater. Really?

Reviving is great and there should be an incentive reward for reviving and rescuing downed players. I do not believe that all kills should be revivable. Headshots should not be revivable. Being within 1 meter of a grenade explosion should not be revivable. Direct hits from explosions or large caliber projectiles should not be revivable. Please strike a balance with this. I'd like to say occasionally while playing, " He's not getting up."  Some kills should place the victim in the spawn menu immediately. I am going to say that Insurgency Sandstorm with all of its shortcomings got that right. There should be more optional gore with this as well. Just my opinion but I believe the battlefield needs some more shock factor.

  • Agreed with all points, except the gore.  Kind of a fine line there with blood, gore, and death screams / rattles / spasms.  I don't really want anyone to get PTSD from playing a game lol.

  • There is a new recon-class perk that prevents revival if you're killed by a headshot from a bolt-action sniper rifle.
And if im not mistaken you also cannot be revived if you're knifed or if you die from fall damage.
There are already plenty of ways to prevent revival already.

  • Well, you only listed two… because there are only two.  Headshot non-revive has been a thing for some time.  Same with knifing takedowns.

I agree with the OP’s concept and rationale for his idea, however I also remember early days when this idea came up, that it becomes very hard where to draw that line.  If you promote non-revives by explosions, then you get more grenade spam… which no one likes.

So while I agree with the OP, I also acknowledge it’s not that simple.

I understand where you’re coming from, but I also think this would be very difficult to balance. You could argue people would spam explosives and other heavy weaponry, just to deny the opponents revives and potentially drive the opponents out of a whole section of a map, even completely back to spawn. Then they would be able to keep them there by just keep hammering them with heavy weaponry, explosives and vehicles.

There’s a delicate balance between realism and keeping the game flowing.
