RPGs are way too OP

Battlefield studios, can we please do something about the completely over powered RPG7s in the game? I'm tired of getting one shotted in a helo, and 3 shotted in a tank by some random dude who has a laser beam rocket with (now since the update) 5!! rockets that they can sling at lightning speeds because someone that it would be a great idea to make the rocket speed the speed of light. And since the flight ceiling in the maps and the map sizes are still wayyy too small its a huge problem to have everyone and their mom running around with these OP as F*** RPGs.

SpiritofGames  I know Battlefield isn’t real life, but it does use real weapon behavior as a baseline. I brought up the RPG’s launch because it highlights why the projectile speed feels off in-game.

RPG splash damage wasn’t reduced because “RPGs are tank-only weapons.” The patch notes say it was reduced to stop people from ground-blasting infantry, not because RPGs aren’t meant for infantry.  RPG-7s are multi-purpose and used against infantry, vehicles, and structures. They’re not tank-exclusive weapons...

As for tanks, damage depends on where the rocket hits. It’s not a flat value, so unless those shots are landing on weak spots, what you said is false. The real issue is how fast the rockets can be fired. Three hits can only potentially delete a tank that quickly if they’re hitting weaker angles; frontal or stronger sides don’t take the same damage.

Where I agree is that the problem is how quickly the rockets can be fired and how many an Engineer can carry. If the reload was even slightly slower, it would probably feel a lot more manageable. Still won't stop a squad blowing you up though.

My point wasn’t “RPGs need buffs.” It was that the weapon isn’t behaving consistently in either direction. The same RPG that can burn down a tank in just a few quick hits will sometimes not drop infantry even with a direct impact or a blast at their feet.

a delay would definitely help with it feeling like a laser. I do still feel like it does too much damage to all vehicles, specifically helos, because it one shots. But I could agree it should do more infantry damage for sure. At least for when you hit directly on them

  • First off, to the above poster, Battlefield 6 is not real life. Never has been, never will be. Probably it's best not to keep referring to "real life" to support your arguments when we're talking about a multiplayer video game.

RPG splash damage was specifically reduced because RPGs are considered tank attack weapons and not to attack infantry. It's not real life. It's just a game. So, you haven't been keeping up with current events. RPGs do NOT need a buff versus infantry. That is something that has been adjusted and intentionally changed.

Since I am mainly play an Engineer in the game, I agree with the original poster that RPGs are far too powerful versus tanks. Three hits from an RPG regardless of where your tank is hit is usually enough to destroy the tank. And, if not, the Anti-Armor Engineer has five rockets. That's enough to destroy any tank hit in any location.

I know you take more damage based on location of the attack, but the point really is they can hit you rapidly and in three hits or more hits your tank is gone.

RPG excessive damage is a game issue and it needs to be corrected.

  • It depends on where the RPG hits more than anything. Vehicle damage in the game is location-based, so a shot to the rear or top will chunk way harder than a glancing hit. As for the rocket speed the velocity is pretty much almost realistic the only part that isn’t is the initial launch. In real life an RPG-7 round pops out slowly first, then the booster kicks in and it accelerates very quickly. In-game it basically skips the slow launch and goes straight to full speed like it forgot it was supposed to accelerate first, which makes it feel like a laser.

We could also argue RPGs actually need a buff in some areas. Direct hits on infantry don’t always kill or hitting right at someone’s feet won’t drop them either. So while vehicles might feel it hard, they’re not exactly consistent across the board IMO.
