Suggestion for Vehicle Keybind Optimization

Dear devs, I’d like to submit a suggestion for vehicle controls:

I hope you can decouple the logic for right-click aiming on vehicles.

As a long-time Battlefield player, I’m not used to the current behavior where right-click in third-person immediately switches to first-person aiming. This takes over the right mouse button in third person and wastes this input.

I’ve tried rebinding controls in every way possible, but I can’t get the setup I’m used to. My workaround is binding aim to the C key in toggle mode. Pressing C switches straight from third person into first-person aiming. This is manageable for most vehicles, but it feels really awkward for bombers.

The downside of this workaround: after switching views with C, the right mouse button does nothing while I’m in the vehicle’s first-person view. My preferred control scheme is:

  • In third person: Right mouse button = free look, to check my rear and surroundings.
  • I press C to switch to first person, and only then use right-click to aim.

To sum up what I’m asking for: separate aiming from third-person right-click free look.

  • Third-person view: Right-click = free look (no automatic switch to first-person aim)
  • First-person view: Right-click = weapon aim

Please don’t bundle “view switch + aim” onto the same right-click input, as it conflicts with free look.

  • With the same key, it only needs a view check to set priority: using the right mouse button, free look takes priority in third-person view, and aiming takes priority in first-person view. This would fix the issue. Please add this as an option for veteran players.
